What is an authentic dial - m spacing on Hulks and 116610 in general
I've made the decision to buy a hulk, but they seem so hard to come by, and are so often adulterated.
After many hours reading threads, at this point, even among reputable, trusted dealers, I just can't tell. From what I've read, apparently the spacing of the 'm' on the dial "seems" to be a giveaway as far as authenticity. (<-- please help and advise here) By no means am I questioning these dealers (they both seem to be hi-volume and well-established in the community), however, to me, these Hulks have different dials. Are they both legit and the real McCoy? Is there variation among factory dials, and thus, the m-spacing is NOT a reliable feature to use for evaluating authenticity? Example 1: http://forums.timezone.com/index.php...=0#msg_7481025 vs. Example 2: http://forums.timezone.com/index.php...=0#msg_7480890 |

That second one doesn’t look right to me. The ft and m writing also seems off... As for the first one, takuya however is a solid seller here on the forum...I wouldn’t doubt their listings!

Yes.
Yes, there are several dial variations...and no, the font spacing on it's own is not a reliable means for authentication. |

Thanks Dishpro. I've purchased via this forum in the past and acknowledge the value of trusted dealers.
I was asking, because according to experts and from what I could tell, the m spacing (perhaps along with other indications) is one of the tells -- if the link below is itself reputable. Understanding there are other, sometimes more and sometimes less, indications of authenticity, I was calling into question this aspect of m spacing specifically. Seems this article is half truth then. Obviously the stamping vs. engraving and laser etching fidelity of the logo on the sapphire are obvious, but it seems the m spacing should not be considered in the basket of characteristics or considered independent of other factors. http://www.watchfinder.co.uk/article...t-a-fake-rolex |

Fantastic.
Better all these replies than conflicting opinion. I'm familiar with 16710 stick / 3185 / 3186 transitions etc, but couldn't find similar info re dial variations on the sub-c, hence the post. Thanks everyone for the help. |

As a complete non-expert, these threads are fascinating to me with the subtle variations and differences in watches which, at first glance, appear to be identical. Also, the level of expertise in spotting the variations and what to look for is incredibly helpful for guys like me. (What do you mean it's a fake; it says "Rolex" right there!) Thanks!
