From 16610lv to 15400ST for a OWG ?

A little about myself. 35 year old health care professional, and purchased my 16610lv through a TRF last year. I really thought that this watch would be my end game/holy grail, but then I discovered the "other watch forum topics" and started drooling over the 15400ST.

I need your help deciding if I should go through with the change. I know alot of you would suggest to simply to save up, but I'm really just a watch guy; I wear my watch 24/7 and it never leaves my wrist. I also have two young children and it's simply not feasible nor logical to spend that kind of money on another watch when I can use it for my kids trust fund or family trips.

I'm really hesitating for many reasons. I mean I love my rolex, it's just a workhorse, I do everything with it, recently got it serviced and runs well within COSC, perfect case size, doesn't attract attention, love the green bezel/black dial contrast. On the other hand, it's a freaking AP ! I get to own one of the holy Trinity of Haute Horlogerie, beautiful finish, beautiful bracelet, incredible looking dial.

Forgot to also mention that I live in Montreal, Canada, and there is only 2 AD's in the whole country, that being Toronto and Vancouver, so I can't simply try it on and see which suits me better.

Please, any contructive feedback would be appreciated! Especially those who've got both; which one would you have as a one and only ?

Sub LV for daily wear.. 15400 for special occasions..

You may regret if you sell the sub.. AP RO is not fragile but not as robust as the sub

The sub is a 24/7 watch.

The AP is not a 24/7 watch.

Imho Nothing to do with 1 being more precious than the other, simply a matter of real world issues the rolex has better water resistance and the roelx bracelet is more robust.

I would keep the LV.

The AP is an "special occasion" watch. I have the rose gold and am always so careful when I have it on. On the other hand, my batman is the perfect every day watch that I can dress up or down. You can wear that lv every day at work and you won't have to worry one bit about it. The AP is stunning but not a robust watch as mentioned. You don't want to be checking anyone's blood pressure with that piece on.

Agree with the consensus. If you are truly a one watch guy, Sub all the way, even through the AP is truly a beautiful piece. I would suggest adding an AP, not replacing.

I have both for that reason.

I had both and sold both. The 15400 is by far the better watch of the two but not the best daily wearer. I recommend you to add the AP at a later time, when it makes more financial sense.

Go for the 15400, you only live once and you seem quite in awe of one, I remember feeling similarly when I landed my first AP as I never thought I would. You can always sell later if it doesn't work out or maybe you'll add another and get how OWGs become TWGs and then just maniacs.

Both great watches. For a daily I'd stick with the Sub. I was just too darn worried about scratches with the AP. It's just too shiny and nice.

Keep the Sub, it's an icon and will never go out of style plus it's the perfect tool watch. My opinion, G ahead, buy the AP and you'll be set until you get the bug for your third watch! If you're a "one watch" individual don't feel alone, I started out saying the same thing. It just doesn't last long. Like cars, aircraft, or boats it becomes a love affair that continues to astounds us. Good luck with your choice.

Keep the sub and add the 15400 when you can. Use the sub for that everyday, go anywhere, do anything watch, and wear the AP on special occasions. I recently got one myself!

Like many said, I don't think the AP would be a good 24/7 watch. It definitely feels delicate and I'd be more worried about it than the LV

I prefer the Sub, but whichever is the better watch is a matter of opinion.

If you’re really jonesing for the AP, go for it and then buy a $100 G-Shock for work.

The 16610LV with movement 3135 is more reliable.

Well...I guess it comes down to whether you want to keep a watch that you love and works beautifully or own one of the "holy trinity."

Easy choice, IMO, but that's me.

From 16610lv to 15400ST for a OWG ?

I must be in the minority here, but I’ve never had a smidgen of love for anything AP.

I’m also not a fan of green Subs. But if those are the choice, the Sub wins every time in my book. As a professional of any kind, you meet people and get judged on things like your watch. None of that matters to me, but other people will form opinions of you based at least in part on your watch. That’s just reality. I’d go for whatever makes less of an impression and is less distracting.

thanks for everyone's input. Looks like I'll be hanging on my 16610lv and eventually add the 15400ST later on.

Neither the 15300 nor 15400 are "delicate" watches. You can wear them everyday with no concerns. My 15300 gets worn as often as my BLNR and under the same conditions. No issues. The scratches on the pcls are much more visible than the scratches on the 15300...

Keep in mind with the integrated bracelet, 41mm sized 15400 wears larger like 43mm watch. The 39mm 15300 version wears just about the size of a Daytona. On the other hand, 16610LV is also a great piece so I would recommend keeping.

You are just 35 years old. Your earning capacity should increase.
Keep the sub and acquire the AP once you have the excess funds for it.
Patience....you still have a lot of life and watches ahead of you.

You have a Kermit, right? Not a Hulk?

If that’s the case, aren’t they trading pretty high right now? I’d flip that in a minute for a no date Sub and put the proceeds towards an AP. You can get a fair amount off a 15400 through gray market. Having both might now be as out of reach as you think.

This is true, my 15400 wears larger than my Daytona, and slightly larger than my subC. I was worried at first for on my 7" wrist but once i got it that quickly went away. Its amazing and i absolutely love it!

Amazing pic BTW

I think 16610LV is more the daily wearer. I wear my 15400 for more dressy occasions.
