PP + Hodinkee Collaboration? Possible?
Do you think it is only a matter of time before there is a PP and Hodinkee collaboration?
I just bought the Hermes slim time only collaboration which sold out in hours and I look at the recent collaborations with Laurent Ferrier and Vacheron (chrono) and those sold out within hours with limited pieces even though the price point was $45k to $60k. Hermes: https://limited.hodinkee.com/hermes/ Vacheron: https://shop.hodinkee.com/collection...nt=35842814415 Laurent: https://shop.hodinkee.com/collection...t=148853653519 I think I might jizz in my pants if they make a special edition 50-100 piece Chrono or something. Say a special dial 5170 steel limited to 50 pieces came out (PP + Hodinkee) and it was listed for $75k on the website and you literally have 3 minutes to decide. How about a titanium calatrava (say a 5522 with a sub-dial time only of course or + date)? Would you pull the trigger? |

Patek did this already with that stainless Pilot watch didn’t they?

Extremely unlikely.
By contrast with the others who have indulged Hodinkee’s requests, Patek doesn’t need them and already limits co-branding to solely Tiffany, with the odd bespoke dial to long time established ADs, like Hamilton & Inches’ 25 pieces purple 5130p. |

Never I would buy such a piece. Probably I would also stop buying Pateks at all.

If there was a collab. Id probably stop buying pateks. Lol
If a co with generations at the helm that has survived economic cycles and the quartz crisis needs a brand like Hodinkee to titilate my senses...im probably going to move away from pateks. Its one thing to have ad placement but its another to colab. Btw nothing agains hodinkee. |

Yeah, nothing against Hodinkee, but I don't see Patek collaborating with them.

Patek often does LE pieces with ADs, special exhibits (e.g. London and NY) and for charity auctions But I can't imagine they will do a LE piece with a watch blogger. This is uncharacteristic of Patek.

Seconded. Why would Patek do it? What's in it for them? PP have little to worry about as king of the hill. All the other watch brands that have produced a co-branded LE had a reason, such as appealing to a younger market, demonstrating innovation, etc. However, its interesting that neither PP nor Rolex has gone down this path, and I don't think they will.

Was under the impression that Tiffany is the last partnership standing and the last Patek will be making.
Rolex has also made a similar decision regarding custom dials. The italian navy octopus was said to be their last partnership.

No but I think if you are into Pateks - Getting something a bit more exclusive is part of the fun. Patek makes beautiful pieces - however many of the modern PM pieces don’t retain value and quite frankly are overproduced. If I am looking for a dress piece to represent an iconic design (such as a Calatrava or the Chrono); I rather not have an overproduced variety.

Rare or not, seeing Hodinkee on the dial of a Patek would be absolutely disgraceful.

Patek recently did 5230G -012 for Boodles and 5230R 011, 5230G 013 for Bahrain. However those are for ADs just like the previous limited editions such as Edinburgh, St Helier, Dubai etc. Very unlikely they would do a limited edition for Hodinkee.

I’d guess no, given the status and financial performance of Patek. In fact, I wish they won’t; just never see the appeal of owning a Patek or any watch with an online blogger/retailer engraved on caseback.

Unlikely in my view - that VC in the link above looks great though

I guess I got shut down pretty bad here. You're right, PP and Hodinkee may not be a good match. PP can do a limited edition themselves...

Just as likely as a 'Rolex X Hodinkee' collab

Agree.
Love it when Omega does it. But would be horrible for Patek to do so.

You are funny!
Maybe Patek would actually make a small production run! Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
