Welcome to the forum. The pins don't stretch as much as they wear at the contact points with the bracelet links. Many bracelets last 20+ years in normal use with occasional cleaning. Lots of threads about bracelet wear and tear, just use the Search utility to find them.
Suffice it to say daily cleaning is unnecessary if your usage is relatively normal. If you know how to remove the bracelet from the head - then you can use an ultrasonic cleaner perhaps monthly or quarterly and not experience bracelet stretch due to dirt and grit wearing away the bracelet pins. Otherwise if you can't easily remove bracelet with your skill level, just a soft baby's toothbrush and clear liquid soap weekly. Now as to your usage - if you wear the watch very loose, the additional torque on the bracelet from many angles can cause more wear than the odd piece of grit...

Figured as much - thanks. I have a decent set of watch repair tools and have considered removing the bracelet for ultrasonic cleaning.
I guess it's like anything - keep it clean and it will last longer, but everything wears out over time. Thanks again. |
