It seems fitting that my first post is in this thread, given that I have registered here as a part of my efforts to acquire my first Rolex, and I can assure you that it will be a 14060M identical to the one on the OP's wrist. There may be other guys on here who would need different watches for different occasions, but I could wear that watch for the next 20 years and I have no doubt it would never go out of style.
Hopefully I'll be bugging a few of you very highly rated seller in the next while, to see if anyone has one of these for me. |

Would someone please tell me...
Other than the new labelling on the dial, is there any difference between the non-COSC certified 14060M, and the new COSC-certified one? i.e. was anything changed to achieve the certification? They're both using the 3130 movement, right? Is it just that Rolex never got around to seeking certification, and now they have? Or are there real changes? thanks much... |

am i right guys ? movement wise, i believe it's 3130 or might be 3131 the The Parachrome-Blu ! There was a tread before, Tools says need pop up those M/V case to confirm. I read SG Rolex forum, one fella pop up the M serial & found same old silver spring. There is something mysterious about these 14060M COSC, that's why im here to find out. |

Very thought out review, Ed. It was my first Rolex back in the late 80's. Mine had an acylic crystal and I kick myself for selling it. Again, great review.

The Rolex 16040M COSC after some wear time
I've purposely held off writing anything about my 16040M COSC. Wanted to give it time to see how it would perform right out of the box, as in brand new.
Well I can report that this is "the " watch hands down. Mine has been trouble free, and keeping exemplary time. About +2 seconds per 24. I have been able to shake off that nonsense of, "my watch keeps +/- 0 time, or it gains +1 per 24 hours". The reason I say that fanatics enjoy bragging about their watch, and seconds, gained or lost, rather than appreciating the whole piece. We know that that no mechanical watch keeps "+/-0" time. When I read things like that contributed it reminds me of the old saying "gee Dad, it's a whirlitzer". The way I view this timepiece is that of a reference 5512 with incredible improvements. The 5512 is a no date, like the 14060M COSC. With all the information floating around. A date on a watch is almost passe`. |

Sub 14060 Z
I've had it for two years and it is my everyday watch. I wear it on a grey and black G-10 Nato band because the Oyster bracelet makes it too heavy for me. I wear other watches for dress but if it is jeans, T-shirts or travel wear, then the Sub is the perfect watch. Mine gains a little each day and about one a week, I reset it. If I wanted perfect time, I'd wear a quartz. The watch is very close to the 5512 of the fifties. It had no date and I find it hard to think that a diver loses track of days when using his watch in the water. I have several very vintage watches but they are too delicate to take on international travels.

My first ever Rolex, and having owned it for just a month or so (probably less) I can safely say my lust for watches and my thirst for more has been quenched for now.
It sits on my wrist like a purring cat on a Bond villains arm. It's meant to be there!!! Greg. |
