SAR on it's way home..............

Needed a crown tube replacement so sent it to Jim Madrid, who got it last Friday. He contacted me that night to say it was finished and headed back today.
Although it's a beater the SAR is still a cherished member of my humble collection and I'll be happy to see it's return.

Also one of Jim's inserts, nice. The marathon lineup is full of classic pieces.

Thanks, David. Yes, from his first run of 12 hour inserts. I was lucky to stumble across them at the exact same time I was buy this SAR.

Cool watch - the Marathon watches are on my list. Now to decide which one.

How's your reliability been (new tub aside)?

Dang, what a good looking watch! Can one still buy one of these? If so, any suggestions from whom or maybe a website address?

Dan I just had a long conversation with Jim last night and it appears he has a few of the may 2006 contract Marathon SAR left over, brand new! I just purchased one and it should be here on thursday! I have wanted a SAR for a while but they are impossible to find these days, Jim is the man!

Well done, David! Your due diligence has paid off. You'll love the SAR, a must for every collection.
Can't wait to see the pics.

Thanks Dan I have not been this excited for a watch in a long time! I searched every where for hours looking for this model with no success. I feel so lucky that Jim contacted me and told me he has New old stock of this discontinued model! I almost bought two of them because they are so limited these days. I went with the standard 60min bezel but after looking at your 12hr bezel I want both! As soon as I get the watch I am going to make a thread.

I heard nothing but great things about the Marathon SS bracelet. Jim said he will have some in a few weeks, I am going to order one.

Everyone knows I love to change things up with different strap combos but the Marathon bracelet is a great example of robust, well built, heavy duty construction. SEL's and solid center links w/ a "brass knuckle" design make it look familiar and yet allow for it's own style much like the SAR itself.

Nice SAR!

I do need to pickup an automatic Marathon.
I have a TSAR that I really enjoy with tritium tubes. :)

I've had several of the Marathon divers watches over the years and generally can't fault them, the only negative thing that I've ever had happen was the PIP fell out on one of them which you would've thought was an easy job to just glue it back in but it went well beyond that although I send it back to Marathon they got it sorted and I wore it for another two years and then sold it so all good.

I just wish my wife was not so obsessive about my watch collection where once I go beyond about 7 or 8 watches (I'm sure she counts them) starts moaning and complaining so I get to the point where I figure that something has to go to keep the peace :-)
