Well made Swiss watches, I have got the Big Crown pilot watch. Famous for using red rotor in their automatic movements, big crown for easy adjustment, developed in-house movements with power reserve of up to 10 days. Checkout their website. Some of the older models can be found with discount at grey dealers online shops.

I have the Oris Carysfort Reef and love it. Have the bracelet, orange, and black rubber straps as well. Fit very well and very comfortable. It’s a fantastic brand with a focus on being environmentally friendly. They donate a large amount of their limited edition proceeds to preserving different parts of the world. They also pledged to be carbon neutral in a few years as well.
They have a few watches I believe with an in house movement, but the others are based off stellita movements which are easy to find someone to service. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Nice looking watches with a history.
My personal experience was I Didn’t like the way it felt in my hands. Winding and turning the bezel felt inferior to the standard Rolex has me accustomed to.

Nice watches, interesting designs - well made and hard to beat at that price range - my opinion.

I started off with an Oris Der Meistertaucher diver about 15 years ago when I really started getting into watches....it was the full kit. Great watch...solid, I really liked it.

Wanting to buy one very soon. Established brand, well built, very solid, integrated bracelet for the Aquis and beautiful dials. Oh and under 2K. So for me a strong buy.

i find that's usually the issue with sub 3k watches is the feel of the bezel and crown.

Owned an Oris GMT and enjoyed it. Eventually sold it as I prefer the benefits of a rotating bezel.

I own a bronze brashear diver. It's one of my favorite watches. I also briefly owned a GBR LE Aquis, and found the build quality to be truly exceptional. It just wasn't competing for wrist time so I sold it.
In my experience Oris is a fantastic value! |

My favorite jeweler is a dealer and I like the Oris style but opted for Marathon GSAR for a rugged tool watch at a lower price.

I had a 1917 LE "big crown" for a while but never really bonded with it. It appealed to me in pictures, but in person it just didn't have that magic. As others have mentioned, if you're accustomed to the fit, finish and feel of mid-to-high-end watches, it may be a slight disappointment: they make good pieces, but the quality isn't what you find at higher price points. Certain things about it (the feel of the winding; the rattle of the strap against the lugs) felt cheap to me. But I still find many of their watches to be attractive!
Resale is a crime scene, be advised. They do not hold any value, and many grays won't even buy them. |

I have an Oris Carl Brashear and it is the only watch I consistently get compliments on when I wear it. This does not answer your question of, are they good, but I enjoy mine and they are beautiful.

I love Oris. They're an honest brand that kind of dances to their own beat. And their new in house Caliber 400 has an industry leading ten year warranty.

I very much like my Oris Big Crown Pointer Date with the blue dial on a dark tan strap! I keep looking at the Oris Sixty-Five and Aquis divers, too, and at some time I will acquire one of these also.

Speaking of, just got this the other day
Quality for price paid still is one of the best value props out there, especially in the secondary market. If they slimmed out the dimensions a bit, they could really make some noise in the Sub 2k dive category Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

However...if you compare them to a more up-market brand, be it Rolex or say Omega you will see the difference. As another member pointed out, the crown and bezel action (I had and later sold a Oris Aquis "Lake Baikal) is noticeably inferior, as is their bracelets. I think though if you are looking for a good, solid, bang for buck watch sub $2000 an Oris is worth your consideration. They have watches of course that sell for more but then your bordering on Tudor territory. |

They have a fabulous independent sprit and seem to be really connecting to the customer (especially younger customers) at the moment. Translated; they are a cool, hip brand. OP, you should know that they can almost always be found with decent discounts as well.
One that thing I love about Oris is their honesty in their movements. They let you know what they are and what they aren't. They will have always include the base movement when describing their movements (no trickery for the uninitiated). Of course if you buy movements first, they now offer an in house with a TEN year warranty. I saw the NY Harbor edition Aquis the other day, and the dial was superb, if they made it in the new calibre 400, I would have snatched it up (and I never buy watches spontaneously) |

Somewhere I have a Japanese watch magazine from 2018 with an article telling the history of Oris and (I think) its launch in the Japan market told in Manga comic form. I'll dig it out and put up a scanned version here if any one is interested. It's all in Japanese, though.

It's a great brand, I have long appreciated them. Came close to considering a couple watches from them over the years but never did it just yet.

I'm a fan of the Chronoris.
There is even a story about Flores Delores and the Chronoris: https://whatsonherwrist.com/2017/03/...sion-and-time/
