Very very very strange how was your testing method, as its hard to believe any Rolex would run like you state hour fast per day.

I haven’t called them … and I haven’t tried. For deeper color, I’ve had the watch for six months and it has run perfectly. Then about a week ago I noticed it was running a few minutes fast, which I thought was very strange. Put it on yesterday and it’s running fast.
One hour a day was an approximation. When I time the seconds hand it is running 8 seconds fast per MINUTE, so more like THREE HOURS FAST PER DAY. Bizarre.

To fully wind it would need 60 full crown turns clockwise only, if it is running like you say 5 minutes fast per hour then its not simple regulation. And to run that fast there must be something more serious going on get it looked at by RSC or where you bought it from.

I know this goes without saying but the chrono also runs about eight seconds fast per minute. I know this sounds crazy. I’ve had a few Rolexes and Pateks. Never had any time problems, ever.

Very doubtful its magnetised as when magnetised its normally the hairsprings the main culprit. And seeing the Daytona was the first Rolex watch ever to get a parachrome hairspring way back in 2000.And according to Rolex it cannot get magnetised but there are other things that could. When magnetised in general they do speed up and run very erratic or even stop and refuse to start.

Alas, these things can happen. Yes, send it in and am sure they'll get her sorted.

Not that strange. Happens all the time. It’s most likely overbanking. Basically, the balance amplitude is too high and the balance is traveling too far. Simple fix at the service centre.

Also possible that oil somehow migrated to the hairspring sticking coils together thereby speeding up the rate

The hairspring may be tangled

I had a pocket watch that gained incredible time after a so-called "watchmaker" <a poser> broke the balance pivot. Found out later he had no school training whatsoever!

Cost me a small fortune to have it overhauled again, but this time by a "real" watchmaker who put it back to factory specs.

Perhaps you too have "something" broken. Or as Larry said, a tangled spring from a hard knock.
