5711/1R and 5990/1A both discontinued?
Saw this on Patekaholic's post this morning and couldn't find another source of information to confirm his post. Does anyone else know if this is true or not?

Does anyone know when the official discontinued announcement from Patek will be?

Maybe Patek is starting to replace SS Nautilus with PM for more profit. Then make more Calatravas in SS to get people more interested in this line.

I don’t really know. The steel 5980 was discontinued and replaced with the 5990, but the gold 5980 is still alive and well. I adore my 5990/1A and can’t see that they will leave a gap in the Nautilus range, there needs to be a chunky Nautilus (despite many purists not liking it). From memory, and this could be total nonsense, the steel 5980 was around for 8 years (2006 - 2014) and the 5990/1A will have been around for 8 years if discontinued in 2022. So it all adds up. Regarding 5990 1a: I wonder if the will launch another dial variant. The 5980 1a came in blue, white and black. 5990 1a so far only in grey.
They did something similar with the 5726 1a. Discontinued the grey dial, pricing shot through the roof only to find out a blue dial was launched… |

This year is the 25th anniversary of the Aquanaut and the 90th anniversary of the Calatrava.
Will PP release new complications and grand complications during (virtual?) W&W2022 and a jubilee Aquanaut + Calatrava during the year? |

I love the 5711/1r but is it really a 250k watch?! Just checked chrono now, it seems like insanity....
Its 50k retail so 4-5x retail price? 2x from retail due to waitlists I can understand and maybe accept but 4-5x seems absurb even for a discontinued model... |

250k for a new 5711/1r is typical now. Hyperinflation perhaps. |

Hopefully this means many more interesting models in the line up. Patek could do with beefing up the complications line and more "entry-level Grand Comp" as well.

if 5990A is discontinued, i expect prices to go up as most of the other discontinued pieces, unless i am missing something here.

For the Calatrava line, it would mean that there is no more Platinum except the rare handcraft (impossible to get) 5088/100P.
Interesting... :) |

From my understanding the only 5205 that will be available is the blue dial. The other variations are being discontinued.
