‘Seitona’ Temptations
I’m looking at purchasing these two but wanted to firstly get the opinions of this board. I would use them for everyday beaters and would scratch my Daytona itch for the time being until I can actually acquire one. Is it to much like buying a fake Rolex? Or is it a clever Seiko mod and worth buying for the short term?

Looks to me like these are intended to be Daytona copies, so I recommend you pass. Seiko makes plenty of great watches that stand on their own. If you are "in line" for a Daytona and have to wait, consider other great brands that you can buy from the store now (e.g. JLC, Grand Seiko).

Being mods, those aren't even real Seiko dials as far as I can tell. Just find yourself a nice Seiko chronograph, there are plenty of great ones out there.

Hard pass. Not interested in watches that are created to look like other more popular and hard to get watches. Plenty of great watches out there that stand alone.

I see no harm in acquiring them if that’s what you wish. I have a Root Beer homage that uses the NH35 Mvmt. There is no Seiko branding on it just an Independent’s logo.

These wouldn’t be for me. Seiko has its own heritage and legacy and I think these cheapen the brand.

Don't think they will scratch that Daytona itch for even a few seconds. Would be a pass

Not only are they not real Daytonas, they’re not even real Seikos.
Like others have said, just get a real Seiko chrono, they have some great ones. |
