Incoming Snoopy

Hi guys - was lucky enough to get the call from the boutique yesterday. Paid up and they delivered it today.

I was actually on the fence about this, but having sold everything else I own post getting the 321, I figured this would make a good companion (oddly I was looking at a white dial chrono master sport on Wednesday).

It’s so much better in the metal than in photos. The blue goes from dark to bright and vivid in the sun, the dial goes from a dark silver through white to a warm hue in the direct sunlight. The case back, while not really my thing, is extremely well done and the kids loved it!

Legibility is pretty good albeit not quite as sharp as the stock speedy/ 321 as the blued hands go over the blue subdials which can impact the ability to tell the time at a quick glance.

The only issue with the watch is that the strap is terrible. It’s hard, inflexible and downright uncomfortable (for me). I’ve put it on a speedy Tuesday leather for now and while not a match at least I can wear it. A bracelet will be on the way sharpish. At this price point, they could probably have done a little better.

But overall, it’s far surpassed my expectations and I can safely say I get what all the fuss has been about. The boutique I obtained it from say they expect to see quite a few more in 2022 as they get to grips with everything post lockdowns etc. so hopefully they’ll start to come through a little quicker.

Happy new year to you all, and a quick pic from its first excursion earlier today!

Nice, congrats! Is the blue strap similar to the black strap offered on the new 3861 speedmasters? Bet the snoopy would look great on bracelet as well. Happy new year!

Huge congratulations, that is a beauty. Shame about the strap but I bet it will look great on a bracelet

I don’t know if it’s the same but it’s very stiff. I’ve seen it on a few different bracelets and it looks good - so will go down that route

Cheers steve - yes, a bit of a shame but I’ll give it a good go wearing it tight to see if I can break it in. As it’s so stiff it makes the watch wear high on the wrist which isn’t great. Thankfully the 3861 bracelet is a good fit so will likely purchase in the next week or two…..

That aside, it’s a very photogenic watch.

Cheers Graham - it’s worth the wait. From speaking with the boutique they seemed to think they’d get more supply in 2022 so am sure you will get the call up.

Congratulations Steve, you now have the ultimate Omega duo (IMHO).

I’m waiting patiently for the 321 call

It’s interesting to hear your thoughts on the strap.

My wife and I were allowed to try one of these watches on (but not buy!) a couple of months ago and I thought the strap was the same material / feel as the one on the Snoopy 2 albeit with a pin buckle as opposed to a folding clasp. I’ve been wearing a speedy pro on a Snoopy 2’s strap recently and I find it very comfortable but I accept there is probably a noticeable difference with a pin buckle.

Hopefully, although my wife recons she has first call on the first one we get!!! Having seen and tried this watch on, I really like it.

Which bracelet are you thinking about for your watch?

It’s interesting. I’ve read some others who seem to feel the same as me about the strap and some who love it. In all honesty it probably just needs breaking in. I’m used to very supple omega straps straight from the box so I probably just need to wear it some more.

As for bracelet, a couple of the guys here and on OF have it on the 3861 bracelet which looks good and requires no modification. I am a sucker for a flat link however so may get the one from the Apollo 11 watch. That does require some grinding of the lip on the end link though, so I’d need to find someone who could do that (anything more complex than a hammer is a mystery to me).

So we’ll see. Am leaning to the 3861 as I already have the flat link on the 321

Cheers Brian - yes, I’ve been extremely lucky this year. Oddly, I couldn’t score a Rolex if I tried, so no idea how I’ve been so lucky with this boutique as I am certainly not anyone who you would describe as a VIP.

I think they are a great pair and am looking forward to rotating them.

I’ve seen a couple on here with the polished version of the 3861 bracelet fitted and I like that look.

Congratulations! It’s an amazing watch and really has some personality!

I agree on the stiffness of the strap as the only real issue I could think of. I am also only few weeks into wearing it and also very much hope for it to wear in and loosen up soon.

Cheers. I’ve actually been wearing it and gave it a good scrunch up etc and it’s definitely loosening a bit. I hope so as it suits the watch very much. I’ll still pick up a 3861 bracelet soon however.

Either way, it’s a terrific piece
