New Member/ new Rolex Owner, Mid-Atlantic USA

Hello and thanks for the forum. In the interest of brevity, I'll get right to my mini-saga.

I bought my betrothed nice rings, she was so surprised and happy (we had talked about simpler rings, and are not big spenders), she encouraged me to get a very nice timepiece. I was reluctant, but researched a bit and got into it.

Determined the Omega Aqua Terra 150, all steel/ dark blue dial was for me. Checked around, tried it on at Omega boutique, ended up eventually buying with my jeweler (an Omega AD, but does not regularly stock new Omegas). Watch was defective in 4 days. Rotor (?) froze. AD provided full refund after checking it out for about 30 seconds.

I was completely blown on the whole luxury timepiece world - just wasn't meant to be for me, not easy to spend $5-8k on a splurge for me, maybe I'll put that into a different item/ hobby, etc., etc., etc.

Got back into it, started looking at Rolex, decided a Datejust 41 was worth another foray into the watch world...though I still really like that Omega...

Worked with half dozen local ADs, tried on, made the decision to go at it again. No ADs had stock in my area, though, and the one I selected to work with said "earliest I can get you one, after speaking with Rolex, is end of June." Through the Omega forum, I found a well-respected AD, price was right (full retail, no more no less, which seems to be about right for many posters these days), and I took delivery of a NIB Datejust 41, Jubilee bracelet, smooth bezel, all stainless this morning. Everything looks proper from what I have read and seen.

I look forward to developing this interest and interacting with forum members. Kind regards, and for those who celebrate, happy Memorial Day Weekend!
