If I could have one PAM, it'd be the 233. go for the 233!

No worries man. The taper is fine, but I find the thickness of the case to completely overwhelm the bracelet.

But we both know the 233 is money!

DSSD. If Pam 311 then it's a different story.

Main reason I got a 243 vs the rolex. I don't wear a watch to get noticed and there are many people I'm sure with much less flattering things to say about that issue...

Curious as to the comparison. Why not the 24, 25, 243, 305? Diver vs diver. Not that its any of my biz but I was in a similar boat.

You guys don't think a DSSD or PAM Sub gets noticed?? That's like saying people don't notice an aircraft carrier sailing up a river.

I didn't mean that. My Pams always get noticed. And complimented. But the people noticing have no clue what it is or value. Now, when I wore a rolex EVERYONE noticed and knew what it was (and that it is expensive, though I doubt many know subs go for 8.3k theses days).

There's a big difference in the kind of attention. I like the bewildered attention better.

I like the mystery! DSSD for 8.3k? hmm Another of the reasons for my ditching of the DSSD idead (I came close) was the Rolex cranking of it's price from 8k in 2008 to 11.5k (or more in 2013 i'm guessing). Seriously? I guess it is what the market will take but not this particular end of the market. lol

...and I would have missed out on the world of straps!

The regular sub is 8.3, DSSD is 12k + I think.

233 is absolutely timeless. The DS just doesn't feel like a classic. You will get tired of her quickly.

Love my dssd and once you wear it you won't want to take it off. I believe the msrp is 12k however you can get one usually for around 10.5k on this forum. Good luck

I love both but the 233 with a couple of extra straps is more versatile than a DSSD.
As an only watch the 233 is enough. The DSSD is best in a rotation.

Regards.

I have owned both and have actually owned the 233 3 times. I still have my one and only DSSD right now, but no 233. I lust over the 233 when I don't have it, but once I buy it, it gets no wrist time. The DSSD is my main daily beater, I love it. I have many other watches I could wear, but it always wins out. Just my .02 cents, but go with the DSSD, it's just a phenomenal watch.

I think it's safe to say that most opinions have been made based on personal taste - and so it should be. But it wouldn't hurt to look at some of the highlights of each watch...:

PAM 233
One of first "flagship" models of Richemont's OP
P.2002 handwound 8-day movement with PR indicator, date and GMT complications (in-house certified in six positions)
44mm "1950" case, domed sapphire crystal, sandwich dial with vivid green Super LumiNova, exhibition caseback
Crown guard, 100M
Price: €11K
Possible downside(s): Low water resistance, bracelet not an option, ...

DSSD (116660)
Tribute to the original 1960s Deep Sea
Rolex 3135 automatic 50hr PR with anti-magnetic "parachrom" hairspring, date complication and functional bezel (COSC certified in six positions)
Beefy 43mm case with ceramic & platinum bezel, 5mm (slightly) domed sapphire crystal, iconic Sub dial, vivid blue Chromalight (in-house?) lume, Titanium caseback
Crown guard, triple-lock crown, "Ring Lock", gas escape valve, 3900M
Price: €10K
Possible downside(s): possibly top-heavy, "relatively" thin bracelet, ...

Why would anyone want to wear a DSSD when you don't use it for what it's designed, jeeeeez I don't even wear mine on the sea bed, great watch toooooo bulky , looks great ,I have to say and I really like mine. But a Pan is the way to go.

I'd like to say rolex missed the boat with the DSSD, it should of been less proud ( thick ) and maybe a 45 mm then, you'd have an awesome watch.

Everyone has their own thoughts, flip that coin and go with it ...... Good luck
