So much of life is like that, eh? I married a Daryl Hannah look alike once....it ended badly. Daryl still hasn't turned up, though. I'm going to stick to watches.

My first ever watch was a Timex - a present from my Dad.
Second watch was an Enicar.
Cannot remember all the other watches in order after that (it was long time ago)
Watches I've had before my first Rolex -Orient, Mido, Titoni, Citizen, Seiko, Gerard Genta, Dunhill, Charles Jourdan, Ebel, Tag Heuer.

Started off with Swatch Irony Skeleton automatic watch, using up part of my savings from national service's allowance.

Worn it for 4 years, that was until I started working. With my own earned salary, bought myself a Citizen Eco-drive Perpetual Date. But after a year, that watch died, and I went down personally to the Citizen service center. The service person's attitude was bad, insisted that the watch stopped was because I didn't gave it sufficient sunlight. Within 10 mins, the watch was "fixed", but on my way happy back home, the watch died again and never wake up. With such attitude from the service person, the thought of going back to that Citizen Service Center diminished.

The Citizen watch is left collecting dust, and I am back with my Swatch. I worn it for another 5 years until it was gaining about 5mins every week. Bought it to Swatch service center for oiling and regulating. Got it back after 3 weeks, found that the transparent back was badly scratched internally, I rejected it and send it back for re-service. The wait was again 3 weeks, this time the service work is "clean". Satisfied, I worn back my Swatch, and soon I realized my watch was not regulated at all, it is gaining 1~2mins per day!

The hunt for another watch began... and I finally got a v-serial Rolex Explorer I

The Eco-Drives have a pretty poor reputation if you look online. A lot of people report similar to you, where it works for a normal battery life, then dies. You can pick near-new Eco-Drives up on Craigslist for a pittance because of this.

I believe I was wearing a Citizen Eco Drive something or other before I bought my first Rolex Submariner in 1986. And haven't looked back since.

A Swiss Army watch with a white face, and then a Luminox Marine with a blue face. I retain both still, they are nice watches and look good IMHO.

Let's see... an old Tag Heuer F1, a Kreiger (dad's cast off), and of course an Izzy watch.

Bought a new Tag in 2003, then a Breitling in 2006.

Invicta. I had a few Invicta watches. They were cheap, classy, and even sometimes looked like a Rolex. But After I picked up my first Rolex, I donated the Invictas to my siblings.

A Tag Kirium was the watch I wore as a daily wearer before I got my first rolex: a TT Oyster Date. I still have both of them today, although I never wear them anymore.

The very first watch I ever owned was a Casio Calculator watch which I got when I was in grade 5 or something like that, and my second watch was a Titanium Citizen eco-drive. I actually still own the Citizen too, althugh it no longer works. I have no idea what happened to the calculator watch :)

I sent the Tag away for servicing not too long ago, here is a recent photo of it. It's still in very good shape :) maybe I'll wear it out again one of these days. It's just a little small for my tastes now.

TAG Heuer 2000 Classic

I remember all the kids in high school used to have TAG Heuer F1's and I couldn't afford one back then - so I finally bought a TAG when I was 20 in order to put that demon to bed :)

Rolex was always the aspiration though.
