Buying vintage
Hi guys,
I'm interested in a vintage piece, probably a Seamaster from the '50's or '60's. Can any of you recommend known sites for definite authenticity? I came across this site in the UK that looks and sounds great - has anyone used it? http://www.vintage-watches-collection.com/ Many thanks |

That site looks good. When buying a vintage Omega, one of the main concerns is if the dial has been refinished. For some reason, Seamasters of that era the dials tend to degrade ("patina"); if it's too perfect, question it.
Look on eBay to get ideas of prices and to see what's out there. Much maligned, rightfully so, but it is a good learning tool. |

Not too sure about this site...prices are really high and some of these descriptions are not very accurate...
http://www.vintage-watches-collectio...eco-dial-1951/ "he dial is, of course, fully signed “Omega Automatic, Seamaster” and is in almost perfect condition, with no damage or discolouration. Exactly as called for by the serious collector, this dial is original and unrestored, and the watch has its original hands and winding crown, the latter complete with its large Omega logo on its outer surface." Dial is redialed and not too well either. You should be able to find a decent bumper for $500. |

Thanks guys.
Kyle - what makes you think it's been redialled? Are there any obvious give-aways? Are there any sites/dealers that you guys know are trust-worthy? Many thanks for your help, much appreciated. |

Dial and hands are also NOS. Check it out: http://www.watchco.com.au/omegawatches.htm But if you are looking for a true vintage piece, then these will probably not satisfy you. Good luck luciano |

Swiss Time Services are the Omega vintage approved repairs in the UK, they also sell used watches too, so a safe bet it will be the real deal and also fully serviced.
The Old watch shop also has used vintage Omega, I have never heard a bad word about the owner, he is also an authority on vintage Rolex. |
