What did you expect? If you say name your best price which you basically did, of course you're going to get lowballed.

Maybe it’s just me but I wouldn’t have offered to sell back anything out of the blue for kicks and giggles.

Given the context it’s hard for me to say which was the joker.

But it was a good joke...

Remember, the AD isn’t the end user. Making a living on the delta, can’t blame the salesperson.

Well, that's around $10,000 more than he pays for a new one.

Yes, it is an interesting equation?

And very difficult to understand how things have come this far?

Everything is taking place outside of Rolex’s distribution control.

Just out of interest, how much were you expecting? Remember, he would need to make a profit.

hard to argue Dealers aren’t in on the price fixing when they’re offering more than MSRP to buy back the watches they sell lol

News flash, AD's are in the business of making money. You want him to pay a retail price for it so he can, at best, sell it and break even? Good luck to you.

You’ll never get the same money from an AD or a gray dealer for a used Rolex, as above.

That said, if you go to sell it privately, don’t expect to get the same price as a reputable gray dealer. They have a reputation and can sell for higher prices than a Joe Blow private seller

not sure how smart that move was from your side.

To get access to the „good“ models, you should try to convince your AD that you are not reselling your Rolexes for a maximum profit.

Well, you just did that.

Keep in mind the AD probably has a safe full of new 116500's that he bought from Rolex for around $8,500...

Do you not understand this? You realize that AD’s pay Rolex approximately 35% less than MSRP for their inventory. They also hoard hot pieces and dole them out of their safes to clients who spend big money on high-margin items like gold or diamonds. Spend $100k on gold jewelry at an AD and I can promise there’s virtually no Rolex model you won’t get at MSRP, and very likely the same visit. Not a judgement, but the reality, and the way most would operate if it were their business. If an AD can buy brand-new watches from Rolex at wholesale do you think they’re itching to pay over MSRP for used ones?
