Waikiki AD

So my good friend is in Honolulu right now. He was walking by the boutique and I asked him to stop and go see if they head any SS models. I don’t know if I did him a good thing or a bad thing. He calls me up and said they do not have any. About 15 minutes later he told me he made a purchase and then sent me this picture. He’s never owned a Rolex before and went for a $17K 36MM with diamonds. Not my thing but it looks pretty nice. Ooopsey for asking him to go look for me! LoL so my buddy joined the Rolex club I guess.

$17k Wow. Nice watch. That's stepping into the deep end quick. SS-lovers cringe and the diamond-haters begin......

36MM. Is that a ROLEX bezel and is that a entirely white gold bracelet and case?

Curious what the papers say...

I think if he likes it great, but it sounds a little costly for 36mm

Not WG. That is SS, price reflects the diamonds

Did a SS piece suddenly show itself after the purchase?

You probably shouldn't tell him about the exact same watch Chase has here for $9600 (17K has to hurt just a little )

Hopefully, OP’s friend got 20% discount to soften the blow some. I actually like the watch now that I see the pics that Chase posted. I am not a diamond guy, but I think it looks good with the blue dial.

First, congrats to your friend.

Second, I think this is the exact transaction Rolex is shooting for: Non-WIS walking in the store asking for a less-expensive low-profit margin but strategically planned unavailable SS sport watch, now that non-WIS walked out with a bloated high-price high-profit margin DJ. Customer is happy, Rolex AD is happy, Rolex marketing dept is singing: "I told you so". It's a planned-out WIN-WIN situation.

I’m not gonna lie. That’s it with my friend. I told him my guy back here at the AD could get it for him much cheaper and not to get it there. Plus Waikiki makes sales all the time just because where they are. I was trying to keep the money local..... but he HAD to have it now! I think the he paid full price for it. Or at most, the gave him $500 off which is NOTHING! Oh well. I told him to wait! He has some diamond fetish though. YAWN haha well at least I love him like a brother.....

Tell him to text you a pic of the receipt.

Hey, if he's happy what's the difference, it's only money. Glad it's not my money but if he loves it that's all that matters.
