Nautilus 5712 SS for Chrono 5172 G
I was curious on the forum input of a trade 5712SS for 5172? Never handled 5172 but curious of input for those that own it or even better own both. Thanks

5172g is a great semi-casual watch. I own it, but I must admit that it does not get nearly as much wrist time as my other pieces. It is certainly a beautiful watch but when I look at my collection in the morning I tend not go for it. With that said, I would not do the trade.
Im curious to see what some of the other 5172g owners have to say. |

I would not do the trade, a gold piece with one of the most beautiful movement ever against a SS watch (and I like the nautilus)

I had own the 5712/1a , never the 5172G.
I think if you are getting the 5172G with a nice discount and you really love it then go for it. 5712 is cool and has way better market but you have to be consciously aware of it when you wear it , that is if you care about the keeping your watch in excellent condition (sales term) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I would not (perhaps I’m biased), 5712A is one of my favourite and most unique references out there. You have the beautiful micro-rotor movement in a Nautilus case.

5172G is overpriced and readily available vs a 5712A which IMO is the best Nautilus made and going to be even more sought after now with the retirement of the 11A. I wouldn’t buy the 72G at 20% off.

I agree with this opinion. Recently been comparing the 5172 with Lange datograph and honestly Lange won by a mile. And I wouldn't sacrifice the 5712 for either Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I wouldn't do the trade. 5712 is incredibly beautiful watch and has a very long wait list (unless you are VIP client of course). Either way, 5712 is one to keep and not trade... At least not for 5172...

I have a 5170G (5172G oldest brother) and a 5712A.
Honestly i love them both. however, i wouldn't trade the rarer steel for the manual wound chrono. just because that step can't be undone without paying a huge premium

Great pictures!!! And yes, I agree 100%, keeping the 5712A is a better option. Reversing it will be hard and/or very expensive.
