Body wash residue
I’ve used various brands of body wash from cheap to high end, specifically Bulgari and my favorite Hermes. They all leave a “residue” that requires a long rinse.
Is it necessary to spend a long rinse to remove all this residue or is it meant to remain for some reason? First world problem.

Are you using hard or softened water?
Soft water takes longer to “feel” clean. |

I don’t use body washes for this reason. Soap bars for life. But also have softwater.
I did notice the exfoliating washes seemed to rinse off and feel clean quicker but generally those use micro plastics |

Most likely as posted above to do with your water being too soft.
This prevents the soap being washed away so easily.

I guess you wouldn't want to use that to clean your watch?

Sadly, there's no class distiction when it comes to the issue of Body Wash residue.
It's a pox on all our houses.

I’m pretty sure it’s hard water. In AZ most water is hard. When I use bar soap it rinses immediately.
Seems I’m not the only one to notice this. Sorry floorguy, this is something I’ve mulled over for a while and figured this was the resource to tap. I like the Hermes “green orange” scented body wash because when I met my future wife in Hong Kong we stayed at the Mandarin Oriental hotel and that was the soap they offered there. The scent brings back fond memories. We all know the power of scent memory.

So true. Smell is the closest thing to a time machine. Our water is extremely hard in Vegas. I use 21 grain/gallon to soften it and don't notice any residue even with prefoaming smell good soaps.

Body wash residue
Quote:
No long rinse or you lose the whole reason you paid the higher price than a generic soap. A shower gel has a firmer consistency, along with a concentration of PPG-26-Buteth-26 (a polyoxypropylene, polyoxyethylene ether of butyl alcohol carrying the scent), you’ll want some of that “residue” to smell like the parfum in it. Regular body wash is more like liquid soap. Not as scented but replaces our smelly sebum. However, due to the formulation, body washes are more moisturizing and hydrating than shower gels. So instead of scent, you get that silky feeling from the moisturizers and you also want some of that to remain. If your skin reacts with a rash then stop using it and switch to Dove. The answer is natural soap bars, free of chemicals and liquid castile soaps if you like body wash. I use Dr. Bronners and it rinses clean.

i like Neutrogena Rainbath, works great on timepieces when i shower.
PS: We do use a whole-home water filter system yet don't have problematic water really.

Body wash residue
Seems like this defeats the purpose of a shower

I tend to go washes with organic ingredients. Most of the high end products are filled with chemicals, hormone disrupters, etc. no thanks.

I use bar soap for this reason.
I absolutely hate the amount of time and water it takes to feel completely clean when using body wash. Compound this with soft water = nightmare.

I am going to change all your lives.
I HATE bar soap because those usually leave a film on me. I love body wash. Here is the trick, use one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Salux-Nylon-J...4291047&sr=8-5 These babies will gently exfoliate your skin and more importantly, make your bodywash (or bar soap) suds up really well. I feel like the film bs is because your not lathering the soap up enough. Wash clothes suck, using a raw bar of soap on your skin sucks. Step up your shower game with that Japanese cloth.

I thought that was the point of a body wash convenience.
That residue is the all day fresh scent paste we pay for to skip every second day of bathing nonsense. |

The real question is, what hair products does Chewbacca use?

I use this bar soap from Harry's that specifically made for men. It smells good (like fresh but like a dude), cleans very well, has no residue, and is easy on skin.
