Do you use the Nautilus or Aquanaut on a daily basis?
In the Audemars Piguet Forum I have asked if they wear the Royal Oak on a daily basis. Now I ask here if they use the Nautilus or the Aquanaut as a daily watch.
I don't only mean work, dinners, cinema, theatre... I also mean going to the mountains, trekking, beach, swimming pool... Send photos of your Patek in daily use. |

I used to wear a 5711 as a daily with swimming and holidays included, unfortunately it proved a bit unreliable as the date stopped changing and the time keeping was erratic, I swapped it to a ceramic sub date and had zero problems, with the prices today the 5711 is more of an investment than usable item.

I have 5168 and 5968 and wear them a lot. Not quite daily but probably my most common watches in rotation.

I wear my 5712 daily. I find it a lot more comfortable to wear than my previous daily rotation of pepsi/batgirl.

No way! I even take mine off when I have the need to clap or pick a bag of groceries from the floor.
. Things are meant to be used and enjoyed. It’s like having a super car that you never take out of the garage because you are afraid you are going to put some miles on it. I wear my watches in rotation but sometimes I can go a week without swapping them out. For example: this bad boy has been with me since yesterday and I will use it over the weekend and maybe all through out next week. Enjoy your ‘things’ guys, at the end of the day, they are just ‘things.’ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Both, and I wear them hiking and swimming. I don't wear them when I'm working out or doing anything where they are likely to come into contact with other metal objects such as sword fighting or walking down the street with my girlfriend. For those contact sports I wear a Submariner.

Used to wear my first Nautilus almost all the time, but not for things like hiking/running or skiing. That was Rolex exp2 duty but, now a Garmin. Revoke my WIS card.

Sure I wear almost exclusively PP 1st 5711 white gets at least 3 days per week, then the 5164 R twice a week, then 5990 once a week , 5711R fills in rest of week - sometimes 5327 g blue watch subs for one of these but not so much - not sure what the comment about the rich is all about ?? All I know is very seldom does anyone comment on any of these pieces. I wear them because I appreciate the heritage and wonderful craftsmanship- very appreciate that I have them . Thanks, james in San Antonio Tx

Yes I did when I owned them. I wore them in extreme environments routinely.
Never an issue.

I wore either my 5726 or 5712 for everything. I don’t wear them as much now compared to my SD 43 and my new Pepsi. They just keep better time. But the PPs are still part of the rotation formanyth8ng and everything.

I don't wear a particular Nautilus or Aquanaut daily, but I rotate my Nautilus and Aquanuat every few days, with a mix of PC in between on occasions.

I have both 5712 and 5764... the nauty replaced a sub for active duty. Since the travel time, I find I use 1/3 Nauty, 2/3 Aqua daily...except for golf where the sub or gmt takes those beatings.

My most worn watch in 2020 - Aquanaut. I am careful with it but if it gets scratched, oh well. It is so comfortable.

Unfortunately I don’t own a nautilus. When I bought my 5167 last December, I didn’t think it would be my daily, but I’ve had a real hard time taking it off.
That said I haven’t been trekking, boating or beaching in a while :( When we get back to things as usual i will still likely wear my 5167 on a regular basis, but my guess is if I take an adventure type vacation I’m taking a rolex. Probably my 16710. |

Yep, I wear my 5990 for anything and everything.
The 5740 that’s pictured on this thread is Thierry Sterns I think, and it looks magnificent. Reminds me of a Ferrari 308 that I saw once at a place I stayed at in France. It was battered!! The owner had owned it from new (30+ years) and had used it as his daily car. It looked so much cooler that the pristine cars there. Sure, there things look amazing when new, and if there was a magic formula to keep them that way, that would be great, but there isn’t and I’d rather wear my watches and drive my cars, than constantly worry about scratching them. I use my IWC beater when I go into the mountains. Once a hike turned into a climb in Norway and the watch hit rock in a bad way. It looked a lot worse than the 5740 above. Not just light scratches, but several nearly 1mm deep grooves in the case. Wouldn't want that to happen to my 5711. |
