Aquanaut and accessories from an AD
Hey guys and girls.
I am quite new here, and this is my first post, so apologies if I make a mistake out of ignorance. I am getting closer to buying my first Patek Philippe - Aquanaut 5167 on a bracelet. I patiently waited for two years, and the AD told me that I am in the allocation list for early 2020. I have bought watches from there before, so we have mutual trust. I have one question. If I am buying on a bracelet, should I expect to get the composite strap and a buckle as part of the deal (or any PP accessories), or the watch is in such demand, that I should feel lucky that I am getting it at retail in the first place? Thanks in advance. |

They will deem you to be lucky enough to get the watch,
What you might get if you order the strap and buckle is a spare strap, a travel case etc Oh and I won't forget the complimentary tie |

Very slim chance they will provide strap and deployant for free. Maybe 4 years ago but not today.

I think it unlikely the AD will do you any more favours unless you can be even more charming than that mutha***king charming pig in Pulp Fiction.

Thank you so much. I have no experience on this level and the last thing I want is to look like an ungrateful turd.
How much would the buckle cost? I plan to wear the bracelet Autumn/Winter and the strap Spring/Summer. Also I noticed that the strap is wearable with a suit (Paul Mccartney married in once, Stern went to Baselworld a couple of years with one), in the rare occasions I have to dress up. |

I wouldn't expect anything for free, but if you have a good relationship then I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for the rubber strap and buckle at dealer cost. I've done this before with straps and my AD is happy to accommodate since (1) it theoretically costs them nothing, and (2) I leave an even happier camper.

Deployant and strap around $2K-$2750. Definitely worth it. Makes the watch so versatile.

One last question: The straps for the 40mm now are black only right? I have heard that back in the day there were green as well, but with the new white gold models in first Blue and now Green at 42MM, they have removed color options at 40mm.
The cool orange is chrono only at 42 mm right? Thank you soo much for the valuable advices. |

If you do get the rubber strap and buckle. Only brown and black will fit, khaki will if, u pay silly money as the ad won't supply it.. Orange fits in 5968 Blue 5168 or khaki won't fit it either Be thankful u will own an aquanaut |

Thanks a lot, I really am very grateful, and it was a personal choice as well. A lot of ppl will think I am crazy, but I choose it over a Nautilus. For the 5711 I had to wait 12 months more at AD price, but the Nautilus is too elegant for me. I identify more with the aquanaut and I am buying it to own it forever (hopefully) so I choose the watch I will wear.

I did the same thing. I bought the 5167/1A and then the strap because I love bracelets with long sleeves and rubber straps in the summer. I believe the cost was closer to $1500 USD for the strap and clasp. If you fit it yourself, read the thread on how to size it - be very patient and cut 1-2 sections at a time. I also ended up buying a 1.5 link as well for the bracelet since it doesn’t micro adjust.

Guys, I have a stupid question, but I am a newbie.
The buckle on the stainless steel bracelet is different from the buckle for the composite strap, or you can use one for both? |

It’s different. You have to buy the deployant and rubber strap. Around $2500 if I recall.

I picked up my bracelet model this year and paid for a strap and buckle but they threw in a free brown tropical strap as well. So not unheard of I guess
