Blue alpinist availability?
All of a sudden these are at most dealers I've stopped by, did Seiko release a second batch? Same thing with the SLA033

I have to look into this. I was interested in the blue Alpinist, however they were sold out.

I read somewhere recently that they released another batch, I think, yes.

It’s a 1,959 piece release. I think only a portion was released during the launch and another portion released recently.
I suppose it can be validated from the serial numbers. |

They definitely did not as per their website (Seiko USA). This was a limited edition of only 1990 ( not part of a batch : ). No other blue alpinist will be made. So the one you saw are either a leftover from the original batch or copies.

If you cannot get a blue Alpinist, consider an Oris Big Crown Pointer Date. I like mine.
P.S. I own a green Seiko Alpinist and the Oris strikes me as a higher quality watch. Of course, it costs more, too, but it is at a reasonable (to me) price point. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Some AD's absolutely now have the blue alpinist. They ARE NOT a new batch. still xx/1959. My AD got one. There's an AD in tampa who has gotten a couple. Seiko just held onto a few apparently.

By new batch I mean a slow rollout of the 1959. Several dealers that didn't have the SLA033, all of a sudden have it again.

Seiko simply released more units from the same 1959 numbered unit edition.
On Wednesday 10/2 they posted these additional units for purchase on their seikousa website, but they sold out there within a few hours that same day. I was able to buy one from their site at that time, which was delivered a few days later. Hope you all manage to find one, it's a really cool watch especially at the price. |

Was lucky and found one at an AD. Picked it up this morning. What a bargain!
The size is perfect. Love the dial. A well put together watch.

Thanks! And the Barton strap looks excellent on it! Do you know the lug width of the Alpinist?

Blue alpinist availability?

20mm. The case of this Seiko Alpinist has a diameter of 38 mm excluding crown and about 41 mm including crown. It has a 46 mm length from lug to lug, with 20 mm lug width. The wrist watch is not too thick, at just over 12 mm in thickness. https://automaticwatchesformen.com/s...iew-green-dial |

I highly recommend the Barton Elite Silicone straps, super comfortable and really easy to swap on/off. Also check out their new sailcloth line, I tried one and it's also pretty nice. I hope you enjoy your great new Alpinist in the best of health, I am thoroughly liking mine. cheers. |

Hello @tomalf123: yes, it is the solid navy blue Barton Elite Silicone strap, available on Amazon and elsewhere. You want the "Elite Silicone" stap, not the regular "silicone" strap, which is higher-grade quality etc (but still inexpensive and a great value). Hope that helps.

Was going to head to an AD today, but it's closed due to Columbus day... I want to see if they have a blue in stock. I'd love to see one in person and try it on.
