Icon20 Ice Blue dial variations over the years?

I recall an article I read which detailed the (sometimes drastic) colour variations that occurred in the famous ice blue/glacier blue dials placed on platinum Rolexes. I cannot find it now, but I recall it demonstrated the way the blue ranged from very faint to (nowadays) far more obviously blue.

Can those on this forum help me out? Am I completely wrong? Are there really significant colour variations? Direct comparison pictures deeply appreciated.
