Swapping my 116508 for the 126719BLRO?

Ok, i felt instantly in love for the 126719BLRO after reading a topic from a member here. The stunning dial with its history behind it within a very nice WG case made me instantly in love for this watch.

I have the 116508 (YG Daytona with the famous green dial) which i also like very much, but is sometimes a bit too overwhelming to wear. It's full yellow gold jacket style makes it from time to time impossible to wear.

But the 126719BLRO seems to be an all season style watch and one i wouldn't keep my eyes off of it.

But here is the thing. How do i sell my 116508? And more important, how do i get the 126719BLRO right away? I could go to an AD and put myself on the list, but i have no history at all. I could go grey, but this piece is something you need to go straight just for the experience of it.

What would you do? I bought the 116508 at an insane low price in 2017 so i have my profit which is almost 100%. And i see the 126719BLRO going up in value also because of its dial.

Tell me your thoughts please

Though one to answer as I own both and wouldn’t want to part with any of them.

Obviously if you’re able to grab one from an AD then this is the way (maybe won’t be as hard as you think) and then try to sell yours here or to a grey dealer.

However, I think you could go the grey route and try for a straight swap (though I think you’re going to have to put some into it but that shouldn’t hurt much if you’ve done well on the 116508).

First stop should be ADs around you I suppose. Depending how that goes either sell to grey or list yourself or trade if it not attainable from AD. Not rocket science ;)

I called all AD's in my country (we don't have that much) and they all complain they had just 1 the past year and they have several people already on the list. The problem is that most AD's are stored under the brand Schaap & Citroen and this brand only had 1 to share with all his stored AD's.

So going straight will be hard here i'm afraid.

I wouldn't do the swap. The Daytona is much better looking watch IMHO. To each their own.

I agree, it is a stunning watch. But like i said, also sometimes a watch impossible to wear these days. I now have the Everest rubber strap on it to make it much more wearable, but in its full glory you really need to dressed up right for it. And i'm a sportsman, not really a suit kinda guy :)

It takes experience and insight to realise that not every watch that you like is for you. I agree there are many beautiful watches but if they don’t fit your style it’s better to admire from far.

Sometimes buying a watch is not always about wearing them. I also bought it as an investment. Which pays of well this time :)

I think the quickest, easiest way to deal with this is to reach out to one of the trusted sellers here.

I personally wouldn’t want to bother vetting a buyer in that price delta, and as long as it’s a fair deal ... sleep at night is worth giving up some potential profit

Oh ... and the BLRO is a spectacular daily wearer 20200116_143922.jpgIMG_20181118_161825_255.jpg

I see you’re going full gold ... but the logic still applies

What did you decide and do you still have pictures of it on the rubber strap? Would like to see if you do.

I bought my GMT Meteorite on the grey market and kept my Daytona green dial lol. Both has huge investment qualities.

Nice. Since you kept the 116508...do you have a picture of it on the rubber strap?

No, not really. I bought the Everest band to switch it once in a while, because full gold is sometimes to much :)

Did you consider a green rubber strap, perhaps ? That might look nice with the dial
(BTW I too wouldn't have let this one go for a BLRO Meteorite)
