SD4K for me, absolutely no contest. It is a very special watch in many ways.

The 'new Sub' will be a big unknown and will be available for years to come.

Maybe go for the SD4K, then once you get your eyes on new Sub determine if it's worth selling the SD4K for the new Sub.
You know what they say when someone starts off a sentence with... Honestly, or, Truth be told! Hahaha

Lol, still a tough call for me. I'm leaning more towards getting it because it does tick a lot of boxes for me. And several people made a point that the new Sub will be in the market for a while, and this one won't - it may benefit me to keep this in my line up.

So, honestly...

SD4K all the way. I had a chance to pick one up from my AD back in the day and I still kick myself for not grabbing it.

I was able to acquire one not too long ago and I haven’t looked back. As others have said, the newer Sub will be around for years to come and you’ll have ample opportunity to pick it up. I don’t imagine the SD4k magically getting cheaper with each passing year.

Haha cheers man. Most OPs would respond to my comment like, FU without saying it. Anyway, get that bad boy if it sings to you.

Like has been said, the 'New Sub' will be in the market for a long time...and at such won't be an option for now..

Gotta have humor on this forum. I also like the objectivity provided by some people i.e. calling out odd behaviours lol

Any SeaDweller in my book beats a Sub. SDK is a hell of a watch. I'm torn each morning between it and my SkyDweller. Everything else doesn’t get much wrist time of late

I bought a new Submariner at MSRP but but not like it and sold. Took some of the gain and bought a 116600 and it is a "neater" package with the tapered lugs as well as no Cyclops. Being more "unique" than a Sub due to short run makes it fun to own. Can't go wrong with 116600 in my view.

Is it true that this SD actually wears smaller than a Sub?

I found the Sub wore too big on me, whereas the 116600 wears fine, so in my view, yes.

I can attest to this. Yes it does. Had a chance to compare the SD4K and 114060 and the sub looked wider/bigger, but the SD has a bit of heft and sits the slightest bit taller. That being said, it still wore comfortably

Sub - most classic, will hold value better, and not huge. Sub is on top lists everywhere as best watch ever, can’t pass that up!

Disagree entirely on the value front. And whilst it appears high on lots of lists, it’s generally high on nonsense lists which are very limited and arguably lazy.

Sub is known for retaining the best value, that is a no-brainer. If you want the classic Rolex watch go sub, if you want to swim with great white sharks, go SD!

DJ or DD is more of a classic Rolex than a Sub. And whilst you may be right with some references, the 116600 is a bit different.

116600 is great, but I prefer the thinness of the 116610 and 114060
