Explorer I Wait Time.

How long did you have to wait for an Explorer I?

A while back now but it was just sitting in the case. No wait.

7 years ago when I got mine, none. I'm pretty sure right after mine sold another one went into the case. Now? Not sure but can't see it taking more than a couple months.

Don't hold your breath. Word of advice: People telling you Explorers are "easier to get" are talking out of their bottom-ends, if you know what I mean.

No Explorers (ref. 214270) at all in my area, which is an affluent part of the country with 5 AD in a 20 mile radius. I've been looking for 6 months. One AD here referred to this model as a "Unicorn" and informed me "they are very difficult to obtain".

Really, where? Lately I've had negative feelings with my local ADs. I'm thinking about going grey and never turning back.

I had bought and sold one almost three years ago and it was in the case when I bought it. Now I don’t even see OPs in the case.

The 214270 is the only Rolex that I regret selling.

If they make it on display they fly almost immediately.

Put my name down for one last week after buying a datejust. No timeframe given. I’ll update once I get it.

I’ve asked 4 ADs around me in Texas and they all said that weekly shipments from Rolex are arriving but they have no idea what to expect. They said 4ish months is a realistic expectation but they can’t guarantee anything as they don’t know themselves what’s coming in.

Now I've heard it all. An explorer is a "unicorn?" Come on!

Not saying they're easy to find, but calling them a unicorn is a bit ridiculous.

Been on the list at 2 local ADs for 2 months. Clearest answer I received is “probably by the end of the year.”

I've come to accept that many of the things ADs say time wise is BS.

To the guy that was told it was a unicorn... it is far from it. I went looking for an Air King a couple of weeks back and was told at an AD "you never see them now a days. it has been at least 6 months since I've seen one.". As if I was asking for a batman.

That same day I found 3 other ADs in my area that had Air King available.

to OP - When I inquired about both, they told me they were unsure about Explorer but usually a few months. Could be less I guess, depending on if they like you enough.

I sent an email to an AD I have a purchase history with. We’ll see what they say.

Explorer I Wait Time.

Got it a few days after asking my AD in Aug 18. Was lucky they also had the Arabic blue dial OP that I was also contemplating. So I was able to try both on and Explorer bracelet won the day.
None of the other nearby AD’s had anything I wanted not even to try on.

The AD said I was lucky with my timing as it was meant for somebody else who changed their mind.

Fab watch you won’t regret getting!

100%

It’s a stainless steel Rolex.

Not exactly freely available right now. Any AD in London will tell you 6-12 months right now for an Explorer.

just because you have a hard time getting it doesn't mean its hard to get.. every region/area/timing is different

I inquired about an Explorer back in maybe September/October last year and finally got it this past June, so about 9 months. Other dealers in the area quoted me 1-2 years.

I stopped by my local AD in late March to put my name on a list and picked this up in the beginning of July. New warranty card.

My AD didn't have one in the case but hooked me up when I went in to send off my SD43 to RSC (was losing a lot of time). I just asked and was told a client was expected to pick one up and wasn't following through so it was sold to me. Even threw in an extra link and gave me a craft beer while I waited. I only bought one watch from them prior and it was the SD43. I guess I just got lucky with a good AD and a great sales manager that doesn't mess with that whole "relationship" nonsense.

I got mine in July, after 3 weeks from being added to the list. It was with an AD I had a relation with. Have bought two Rolex from prior. But the offer was flagged by the store manager on how I was offered two sports models in two months. They had a quick chat with me in store and was okay once convinced I wasn’t going to flip it.

Actually, take what the ADs tell you with a grain of salt as it's far from a unicorn. I was offered one after a couple weeks of waiting with no purchase history at this AD.
