A very special omega , made in low quantities
Entire movement made by only one watchmaker Production probably close to maximum 1000 per year because of that movement Versus a mass produced Daytona ( all different versions have the same mass produced movement) so probably 30.000-50.000 per year Well sorry to say but in this case you must be a blind uninformed Rolex snob to prefer the Daytona

If Omega would taper that bracelet it would be a close call for me. The exposed movement is gorgeous.

Will be worth half retail in a year or two.
Omega is pumping out new watches like Yeezys these days. |

Wait. I’m confused. Why is this nearly impossible to get at retail? My SA told me that I can get this by Fall if I place a refundable deposit. Have you heard differently? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Omega has instructed ADs not to take deposits as the supply will be very constrained to begin with. The US may only get 100 pieces this year.

Cause Omega owners have small dick syndrome and always feel the need to overcompensate saying Omega is a better brand than Rolex when we all know thats not true and never will be. Omega makes great watches but they will always be in Rolex's shadow.

The Rolex is tougher, and may always be more valuable. But the 321 is in a class apart, better looking, easier to read, produced in far smaller numbers, hand-built by one person.....it exudes ‘class’, the Daytona exudes ‘jewellery’.
But then I think I prefer a standard Speedy over a Daytona. Just so much better looking on the wrist. Now, a Rolex dive watch verses an Omega, that’s a different story. |

Like I said, let's not get personal, otherwise we spiral into a slanging match.

Oh. Early on I was told I could get one. But I’m guessing that’s all changed with the forecast of low production. Interesting to know but I’ll probably pass even if I were somehow able to get one. I’ll text my SA to see what she says. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Let's be real here, the 321 Speedy's primary competition in the marketplace is not the Dayton. Rather, the new 321 is competing primarily against vintage 321s. The new versions MSRP falls a bit below the market price of a mint, 100% correct ref. 105.003 "Ed White", and a bit above the market price of a similar condition/originality 145.012. For those who are not Speedy nerds like me, those are the references of the last straight lug 321 Speedy and the last lyre lug (and last ever) 321 Speedy. As such, as much as I wish it were cheaper, I think Omega's pricing strategy is spot on. Whether or not the new watches hold value near MSRP on the secondary market will be entirely dependent on how many Omega produces. As a subsidiary of a publicly traded company, I strongly suspect Omega's goal is to set production at, "as many as we can sell".
Regarding the comparison with the Daytona, on pure aesthetics I much prefer the Speedy. That said, while I think many on this forum underestimate both the water resistance (I swim with my modern Speedy with no issues) and value retention (all of mine are currently worth more than I paid) of 321/861/1861 Speedmasters, if paying MSRP at an AD, then I'd pick the Dayton. Then I could sell it, buy a modern 321 on the grey market, and pocket a few thousand dollars :) |

Two over hype and priced watches. At least the Daytona will hold it's value. The 321 not so sure?

I would ignore the 321 and go with their Moonwatch with manual wind hesalite/sapphire glass which is phenomenal deal and best manual chronograph out there. The grey prices are around $3.5 USD. Just compare to that Daytona looks so overpriced chrono!
Street price: USD $3.5K vs $23.5K |

MSRP vs MSRP I'd stick with the Daytona. If the new 321 falls to "normal" Omega pricing of 35-40% off then I'd consider one. Otherwise I'd just go vintage 321 or 861. A column wheel is nice but it's not $5k nice. That's an expensive gear.

Some folks don't get the world outside Rolex. Nothing against you.. but Omega released Snoopy Moonwatch for $7K USD and now it sells for $24K USD as used. So, they know the market for it.

I'd take the Daytona in a heartbeat in comparison to an Omega 60s watch even if it was made in 2020.

I dig that the Omega only has "Speedmaster" written below the logo, and very little else. I wish Rolex would follow suit and return to their 1960s roots. However, $14K is a steep price for a modern Speedmaster.

I like the Daytona more than the Speedmaster. Especially at their respective price points (MSRP)
