Omega boutique visit
Hey All,
Visited the Omega boutique today in London on Sloane Street to have a look at the Speedmaster pro (006 sapphire sandwich) Absolutely loved it! He wanted £4700 and offered the choice of either giving some free toys exclusive to omega OR a free first service.... Should I buy at retail? I can see they are selling on Chrono for about £3700 and a service will cost me £600ish quid (in 10 years god knows how much it may be who knows will I even have the watch in 10 years time?!) - so saving of about £400. Whereas, I buy from a boutique at £4700 with a free service...... Any advice would be really appreciated. Cheers Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk |

As you said in 10 years you don't know if you'll still have the watch, and you don't know either if the boutique will still exist. I'd go grey tbh bruv.

Check what an authorized dealer will offer. You would be buying new with a warranty in your name. Do not know where you are located, but in the USA, the authorized dealers offer good discounts. For me, the greys are a step below in accountability. If things screw up, what is your recourse? You can’t complain to Omega.

25% off for a Speedmaster seem like a good target. Never buy Omega at retail (unless it very select pieces, like Snoopy)

You will get 15% easy at a U.K. AD. I’d go that route. If you still have the watch there are lots of service options for the 1861 outside of the omega network.

There are some benefits to being an Omega boutique client that for some may outweigh the upfront cost of not getting a discount.
Omega brand events Brand dedicated in store watchmakers at your beck and call Greater access to limited edition pieces as the boutiques have a far greater allocation than an AD ever gets VIP ‘watchmaking courses’ run in store for select clients, by all accounts a great day out To name just a few. But for some it simply comes down to money, I’m which case go to an AD. |

I would go to an AD and see what they will offer. The only thing you might lose is a little time and you could save some money. Also, if the AD will not get to the number you want have them add some straps. Good luck.

Go on Chrono24 to see how much you can buy a new 311.30.42.30.01.006. Prices start at $4400. Many can be had for less than $5000. That's anywhere between 21%-30% off MSRP. I would never, ever buy from the boutique. Did you try an authorized dealer? You could get 20% there.

I remember when I walked in to Omega Boutique on 5th avenue to buy my brother's 30th birthday present, a speedmaster professional. There were no discounts. However I went to an ad and they even offered to ship it to an out of state address so I dont get charged the tax. Quite a change. The price is much better if you dont go boutique. I think nib even outside lowest ive seen here is $3700 full kit, stickers on.

I use 3. 2 goldsmiths and one fraser hart and no issues. Over 17 generally is a managers phone call which I avoid as I know them. I know some of our friends say 30% but I can’t get that and I spend quite a lot with these guys. Get a decent internet offer at 15 or so and show it to them. They’ll probably match. When was that? There have been a lot of price rises in recent months so it might not necessarily be there today Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I wouldn't pay retail for one, if you can get 25% off at a regular AD it would be decent. Nothing wrong with grey market if it is a respected grey. There are plenty of good ones and they are the same watch. The boutique experience is nice but not that nice.

I don't know where people are getting 25% discounts at ADs from. Maybe in the past but not now. The max i could squeeze out of one here in Dubai was 16% for my hesalite.
I think demand for the moonwatch has suddenly caught on quickly with the impending release of a revised model. Up until recently there was a grey dealer called Hackett Watches that was advertising brand new hesalite and sapphire moonwatches with 5 year warranties. They've since disappeared. Personally speaking I wanted to be the first and only owner of my moonwatch and so there was no question of buying at AD. I scored a deal I was happy with and I haven't looked back since. Sure I could get it cheaper elsewhere but we're talking minor differences. I think you can squeeze some discount out of one of the many many ADs in London. I would say no to the free service. |

From £ 4700 to £ 4000. That is more then 15% discount. Seems reasonable if you like the watch.

I would only buy at the boutique. Many benefit vs the small savings.

If you want to pay full price that's down to you. I'm not prepared to spend £4700 on a watch that's only worth £3800 in the market. Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk |

From my experience, you should be able to get at least 20% (if not 25%) from an AD. If not, you may need to start calling around to other ADs. I'd avoid the OB if you're after a strong discount.
