10% below lowest offer on C24 is still 20% too expensive IMO.
But I´m one of the poor list price or nothing buyers. |

In my opinion the 5980 is now massively overpriced, but so is any other Nautilus on the secondary market. The 5980 has as good a chance as any at holding its value as its discontinued and I don’t expect its price to drop, so if you are planning on buying I’d do so while you’ve got a good offer.
I’d say the risks are: 1) if the Nautilus craze dies down the 5980 could be one of the models to lose most value. It was never a particularly popular model when it was in production and its only in the last 12 months that it’s seen the big price increases. 2) In my opinion the 5990 is a better watch. If / when that’s discontinued there may be a shift from the 5980 to the 5990. |

The 5990 might be the better watch technically, but aesthetically (for me) I do prefer the 5980. |

Youre locked in for life after that purchase. You won't sell it.
Have you considered that the 5980A is nearly same priced as the 5980/1R? You can upgrade the weight with 100 grams if you spend a tiny bit more. If you already have the 65K (I believe that's going rate?) why not just add a tiny bit more and you can get it at retail at your local AD with a bit of wait? |

The UK shows you where US price is going in the short term and it is pointing to $90K so without a Black Swan event you are pretty safe on price, it's the UK that is always at the cutting edge and where risk is highest.

65K is under the current market value of the 5980 in steal I'd say. |

a wonderful watch and if you really want it then go for it. In 10 years you will not get hurt on a sell or trade and how much would you enjoy the watch each year. Investment, no, great wearable watch, priceless.

Tried on the 5712/1A today. Another lovely alternative. Not as special as the 5980 perhaps, but truer to the original, and $25k less or more...

Nautilus is going through a bubble at the moment IMO. How long it will last, no one knows. If global recessions happens with trade wars, who knows what prices will be like in 3-5 years.
If you like the watch, go for it. Right after the 5980/1A was discontinued, I remember seeing all 3 color dials at one AD and they were being discounted at ADs. But that was several years ago and who know what the watch market will be like in a few years. |

If I had to choose one of them I would go the 5712, but that also depends on your other watches. If you already have a 5711, clearly the 5980 makes more sense. |

Considering its the watch of your dreams, price is below lowest asking price on chrono, then I'd say absolutely go for it! why not?

Fantastic choice which the current value should hold.

Jump, now.
Can't really tell from the pic but it seems to be the "more common" blue dial version. I don't think you'll lose money if you keep it 10+ years.

Gray and white do better in resale, but I prefer blue.
Jump on it!
