Battered 5726

Cool or not cool??

I vote cool! But...I still can’t let myself allow my 5990 to get into this state! But then again, I’m not cool!!

The owner of the 5726 is Ed Sheeran, who’s Collection I’ve admired for some time. He’s just written an article on HODINKEE.

Thanks for sharing. This is one of my favourite references and happy to see this watch being enjoyed so much.

I think it’s cool when it’s on someone else

Cringe.
That watch should be given to me where it will be properly cared for.

5726 (but 5726/1A-014 ) is my favorite watch, because I like steel bracelet. Just waiting to receive it.... one day....I hope. And I certainly will not treat it so badly

Ha, same here, I'd have that polished every year if I was gonna wear it like that.

I think it would be even more cool with less battering :-) Actually, I prefer battered jeans with a pristine watch. :-).

That wrist looks pretty battered too!

My 5726/1a-white dial has a million scratches, and the rounded center links on the outside bracelet have actually been worn to the point of smoothed edges....it has never ever been abused. I suspect the majority of its wear is from my wrist resting on a wooden desktop while writing and typing...pretty bizarre when you think about it. Do they source the softest steel in the world, or what!?

I guess my sons can worry about what it all means when I am worm food....

Very cool, assuming big Ed did all the scratching.

Everyone loves a new watch. But there's something attractive to me about natural wear/patina. If the price is right I'd certainly buy the watch and continue enjoying the **** out of it. Well done Ed.

I don't think we can use ugly chicks here since ugly chicks never looked good but this broad at one point was a 10/10

Agree! To me it says “I have zero Fs to give”, in a very casual way. If I drove a Ferrari I would try to keep it clean, but I wouldn’t be the guy running around with an umbrella every time a bird flew overhead.

I wear the heck out of my watches, and they still never look like that.

Do people just bang their wrists all over the place?

not cool.

I owned a 5726A, and the finishing is so complex/amazing on that watch, that seeing all those scratches-- especially on the strap-- just looks........wrong.

Now a Rolex Sub........that's a different story.

Cool for sure. When your tour grosses 736 million you can give zero fawks about a scratched watch.

Scratches don't ruin the look of a watch, polishing does. Nice to see that some owners actually wear their Pateks.
