Is this Pam 111 a fake?

I have a feeling I might have been screwed on this one. It came with a box and papers and warranty card and looked really legit when I purchased it. Its my first panerai and I wasnt sure what to look for and didnt think someone would go through this much trouble to make a fake with a see through case back and box and papers.

I don't know what legally can be done. I take it this was a craigslist deal or something. You need to be careful.

If I were you, I'd post this in the watchout section and ask people with more experience than I on what your next steps should be. I'm really sorry man.

Sadly, the boxes are fairly easy to fabricate as are the papers. The font on the plaque on the box looks very off. Hope some of the guys around can help. If you have a copy of the licence perhaps you can report this to the authorities?

Not sure why you are worried about the box.

You need to worry about getting your money back. Even if the box was real (which I doubt), that is only $200 value.

If I were you, I'd be seeing if this guys ID is real. Can you look him up on public record? I'd get the police involved too at this point. How much did you buy for?

Not much you can do legally. It's your word against his.

He could simply claim that he sold you a real Panerai, and that you've swapped it with this fake. Unless you can prove otherwise, I can't imagine anything that you can do LEGALLY.

Street justice, on the other hand, not that I'm advocating...

Yeah. I contacted him via email and he wrote me a very well written response that he sold me real watch and how dare I challenge his integrity. He also said that I'm trying to extort him and that he will be contacting his lawyer.

I must say he writes pretty well for a scumbag thief. Oh well. A nice $3400 lesson.

Can't you do a PayPal dispute?

Why don't you post a better picture for everyone?

I didn't pay with papyal. I met the guy in a parking lot. It's definitely a fake because I did some research online.

FILE A POLICE REPORT.

Don't be threatened by a lying thief. He stole from you.

Do this now.

I don't know what the eventual outcome will be, but, for your conscience, you have to file the report. Good luck.

This is really a bad fake. I hope you have supporting documentation.

111 has a 005 dial. Just wrong right off the bat.

Bub, I was just thinking.

Did the thief send these pictures to you? If there's a way to prove that he took these (or other) pictures of the fakes, then you might have legal recourse.

If not, at least you know where he lives and his full name. With this information, you can make life quite unpleasant for him, such as threatening to report him to his employer, co-workers, neighbors, etc. This won't really accomplish much, but if he's not a complete bozo, he might want to avoid the annoyance. I wouldn't let him get away with ripping me off.

+1

If he sold you the garbage, he has no integrity to even question so screw him

Go to the police ASAP, send a copy of the police report to him and ask if he wants to take care of this with or without the help of the police

Worst case, take him to small claims court. While this will be a lesson to you, don't let it be a $xxxx lesson
