Nothing sad about that! She's a beauty. Love the minute track around the edge. Restoring the watch will keep you busy...

I wonder about that orange second hand in particular, though. I would have expected blued steel. Opinions on the hour/minute hands? Possibly later replacements. But all this is to be expected for a watch from the 1940s/50s. Nice acquisition.

1940s Tudors often had red sweep hands, but they were a tapering wedge shape IIRC. Cal 59, I believe.

And I'd check out those numerals with a Geiger counter just to be safe - that's a lot of radium. You can get a cheap counter on Ebay.

I like this one and likely from 40s or early 50s. Hope you get it serviced but please do not replace the dial and hand.
