I am surprised by these poll results.
It just shows that the enthusiasts really still love the no date despite it not being the obvious choice. |

If only used for diving, a submariner would need no date.
But it is not, most of the time. I had a 5513 decades ago. At a time I would have preferred a 1680. But, oh dear, how I LOVED this submariner! Now I have a 16618, that only exists with the date, as all PM submariner. I prefer with date, recognize that a sea dweller with no cyclop looks great, and would love to also have a four lines 5512 for the collection and beautiful look (and a Submariner Red, and a double red...). So I love both, with and without date, prefer the date for practicability and definitively need to win some lottery! If only one Rolex, I would take a sub with date for my use because I'm lost without a date (even though we find date on one's computer, on iPhone...). If having a large collection, one with, one without (among other pieces). I voted "with date". |

My first post and I feel I'm stating the obvious. The Submariner is simply the finest watch in the world. I'd suggest the date version, is the second best.

Sub hands down.
Theres something beautiful about the having no cyclops with a flat, perfect mirror shine on the glass. |

A little surprised tbh seeing the Sub ahead on the poll. Personally much prefer it minus date, but I always thought more prefer the date version.

The Original is louder than the Date.

I have a DJ 41 for any times when knowing a date is super important so as the owner of the new 124060 Submariner I have to go with the original Submariner

No-date. I'm retired now, and don't need to refer to the date very much. I can use the iPhone for that.

No date. I prefer the symmetry of the Submariner.

Everyone says no date but buys date. That said, being an essential worker in NYC during the worst of the lockdown has made a date wheel a must for me from now on.

While I love the no-date symmetry and totally understand the appeal, for daily wear the date makes more sense. I use it every single day.

Original Submariner doesn't have a date window.
You don't need to know what date is under the water and it looks sufficient on this model .. I would save my date desire for a GMT. |

I was on the fence when I got my sub several years ago. The simplicity of the sub is more visually appealing to me and most of the other watches have dates. If I want a date on my watch, I’ll wear one of the watches with a date function. It’s one of the few iconic Rolex watches without a date. Why not have one of each.

I prefer no date; better balance for the diver dial. My Explorer 2 handles the date/GMT complications.

I had Sub without a date, he even went on vacation with me. Unfortunately, after returning to work, it turned out that the watch became of little use to me. So I sold it quickly. Now I'm waiting for a Dated Submariner (I'm signed up with AD).

Don't need the date at any depth...
