I started off as an enthusiast, and then one day I woke up and realized I had a collection.
The collection has evolved over time, where the current majority is Rolex (10 out of 24 total luxury pieces). I never intended to be an investor, but it’s a nice little perk when a watch appreciates. I’ve broken even or lost a few hundred on most of my transactions but am confident I could recoup the losses if I were to liquidate the Rolexes. The only problem is, I like them all and want to keep them! Haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I lie to myself and say that I’m a watch enthusiast but I’m enthusiastic about most watches and a lot of brands! I guess that makes me a collector!

I can't afford luxury watches, or luxury anything. So I'm an enthusiast but not really a collector.
If I had a lot more money I'd buy more watches though. I'm the same way with cars. I'll go test drive the new Porsche or Corvette because I'm an enthusiast but I'm not buying those things. I aspire to own 1-6 luxury watches in my lifetime; mix of brands and nothing over the $40k mark. Likely 3-4 steel watches and 2-3 PM. My first step is the peskiest.. the SS Rolex professional waitlist :P |

Definitely a watch enthusiast.
I enjoy wearing mine as much as coming across someone wearing a nice one (doesn’t have to be expensive). It is a passion for horologery in the end.

An enthusiastic Rolex collector. I'm fascinated with the mechanical workings and enjoy both the science and art involved in the manufacture. I view the intricate designs of the movements as pure genius. I enjoy browsing and learning other brands besides Rolex, such as PP, AP, ALS but don't have much realistic hope of actually owning them. For me Rolex is the sweet spot.

You can get a pretty special ALS for less than a steel submariner with a green bezel. This ALS Moonphase is on my wishlist and I've seen it listed for $21,500 which means it probably sold for around $20k. Solid silver dial, solid gold case, hands, indices, moon, rotor and more. Solid platinum rotor edge. So much finishing and precious metal for the money! |

Watch collector\enthusiast. While most of my watches are Rolex, I own different brands as well.

Enthusiast. I don’t know that I’ll ever have the time or money to be a collector. Check back with me a few decades.

I’m both a watch enthusiast and also a collector. I don’t have a large collection but for whatever I do have, I wear in rotation and very rarely just sit in the watch box.
