Which rolex would you rather with a suit??

Happy Saturday!

Just before I start, I know proper etiquette states I should wear a watch with little to no complications on a leather strap when dressing up. But, since I don’t get to wear these often (especially nowadays) I prefer to wear them every chance I get. Hopefully one day I’ll get that Saxonia Thin I’ve been wanting lol.

Currently in my collection I have a SubC w/Date and DaytonaC. Other than that some quartz watches that I don’t wear anymore. I’ve mostly worn the Sub in these situations, and even wore that watch to my wedding. Since then I’ve added the Daytona and they both have their pros and cons in my opinion. The sub has the brushed bracelet which isn’t as flashy, but also wears much larger. The Daytona is a lot slimmer on the wrist, but with the PCLs can be more blingy.

Just curious what you guys would choose.

-Tony

I love the Saxonia Thin. I hope to add that one day as well. I would go with the slimmer Daytona here.

Disclaimer: My opinion.

I might be in the minority here but I do not think a submariner looks good on a suit, no matter what Rolex marketing tries to say about it.

If I had to choose from those two, I'd wear the Daytona as it would tuck under the cuff a little better and is generally considered very comfortable and nimble.

With a suit (business, event) I think the DJ/DD is the watch, not keen on sports watches with suits but it total personal view.

With black tie - leather strap only.

I don’t care about “rules” or whatever, my decisions are made from a practical standpoint. I would wear the Daytona with a suit because it’s thinner and slides under a shirt cuff much more easily.

in this case I don't think it makes any difference, Sub or Daytona either is fine, none will be better or worse than the other. Whatever looks good w the suit.

Personal preference I guess, although I'd probably choose the Daytona to go with the suit.

For something more formal, I like the new Oyster Perpetual 41. JMHO, but leather straps/buckles are a pita; give me an Oyster flip-lock anytime.

I don’t know why you’d be concerned with going with PCLs if you’re already wearing a suit.

Must agree, black tie = no watch

I don’t think you can go wrong. I have both and have worn both with suits, both felt the part.

I wear a suit most days, choice of watch is my Rolex Cellini 50515. It’s the only watch I own, ticks the boxes for me and is a bit different. Done the suits with Subs, just didn’t feel right, chewed up the cuffs.

It’s such an awesome, simple, elegant watch. The only thing holding me back is that I don’t dress up often anymore so I would have a hard time justifying the price point for how much I’d be wearing it.

JLC is on my radar. I could get SS but I feel like stepping up to a PM version would be nice if I got one. Maybe a nice used version.

I know what you mean. I wore the sub for my wedding and while in fit well under the cuff when it did peak out looked too large for sure.

If you were a suit often check out the cartier drive extra thin stainless. It’s a nice option for 5k.

None. I have a black sub and datejust, plus bluesy. White dial and black strap with a suit always. Wear my NOMOS.
