Dunno, seems like too many major upgrades to make it a mere "transitional" model...Cerachrom, Chromalight, Glidelock, Maxi-Dial (More Maxi?), etc..

If we're talking about Sea Dwellers then yes this is the shortest run for this model but for other models there is the 168000 Sub which was produced only from 9-12 months if i'm not mistaken. Value is just right hasn't shot up as much yet. But who knows

There is a 116600 from april 2017 to sell on a website in France. 11000 €. Excellent condition.
It's been there since 3 months and still there...

It was 9500 € when they discontinued it. Not much hype in France for this model.

I love this watch anymway. Much more than SD43.

Same here.

Bought mine for the birth of my son. He will get it when a special occasion comes up in the future. And that is priceless.

Mentioned it before me!

But yes, that's probably the shortest most recent run.

certainly not as desirable as some of the production subs, which is reflected in the market price

Whatever the case. The SD4K is the last of the 'true' sea dwellers.

The SD43 is a jumbo submariner.

I recalled an AD that sold the last SD 4000 for a significant discount in order to make room for the display case for the new SD43 that should be delivered soon. It did not sell well due to its close resemblance to the black sub, which was cheaper. Nowadays, the display case is always empty. There is no reason to make room anymore. The lucky guy who bought the last SD4000 at clearance must be laughing his way to the bank. How times have changed.

Totally agree.

The cyclop is a no go on a Sea Dweller.

What is everyone's guess here ?
One of the shortest runs for any Rolex watch was the limited addition of 300 only watches of the new 2012 TOG for the Japanese only market. I remember this well as they were reported on forum as all Fxxxxxx and Dxxxxxx serials. And many on forum said they were old stock as they should be random serials now that did bring a smile to my face. Yet these are not thought of as must have collectible and doubt if the 116600 will be .

The 116600 and 16600 at circa £10k is considered a bargain in this day and age for a SS sports watch. One was after a great watch currently at a realistic price I would recommend the 16600

As I showed earlier I owned one; it really didn't significantly increase in value nor was the AD interested in it when I traded it in. Low volume produced doesn't equate to scarcity and demand in this case.

Didn't the 2017 SD43 mk1 have the shortest production run ever in a non-limited watch? Only one year production, the first mk2s started to pop up in summer 2018.

SD4K is the best modern SD. Cyclops do not belong on a SD. Period.

My understanding is that a production run is for a reference number ie 116600 and not a mk dial etc.... they re still manufacturing and selling the SD43

Ok, so it doesn't apply to the 16610LV flat 4 either, then.
