JLC - controversial question...

So my dealer is offering me one of the coveted Rolex models that I really want...but...I have to pick a JLC to bundle.

JLC was meant to be for a friend who has now pulled out. So...question is, which JLC should I be getting that I can re-sell right after that at a not-so-significant loss?

I don’t think any fall into that category but would be interested to see if I am wrong

Depending on the Rolex, it may not even matter what ever the JLC is.

But IMO check out Polaris; I like it and think in this situation I’d end up with it as bundled in but keep it. You may or may not feel the same way about it.

JLC have some excellent watches, and they are at a higher watchmaking level than Rolex.

So as a controversial answer to your question.

Flip the Rolex for a profit and use that to pay for the JLC. You get a better watch for almost nothing.

I’m thinking the Polaris automatic. It’s $6,650 and one of the better looking models. The master ultra thin moon at 10k is amazing. But i think the Polaris could sell for north of 5k. What watch are you getting? If it’s not a BLRO, BLNR Daytona, or a new Kermit, it’s a bad deal.

JLC - controversial question...

Assuming the Rolex is a hot piece (Daytona, Pepsi or Kermit). Sounds like a great opportunity to own two great watches. Check out JLC MUT Moon

JLC make some beautiful models, particularly dress watches. But you could end up paying a lot more for your Rolex and have the hassle of trying to sell an unwanted watch. I wouldn’t be drawn into a buying game.

For the RBOW, you should offer to buy not 1 but 3 maybe 4 JLC’s

If they say just pick a JLC, can you get away with a cheap steel Reverso? It'd probably be worth it even if you just give it away to someone.

No deal unless they are going to discount the JLC by 15-20% and still allow you to buy the Rolex. JLC is a great watch but a lead balloon on the secondary market. You might be better off buying from the inflated Grey Market than doing this deal.

I agree with you here. JLC make beautiful watches. For OPs situation I’d go for one of the Ultra thin moon phases, or reverso duo face.

Thanks all.

It’s for the Hulk or the new Kermit. Understand JLC makes really good watches but at this point on time only want the Rolex and don’t want to stretch my finances too wide.

Will look into the MUT Moon and Polaris.

Get a reverso and then you have a classic dress watch

So what's the JLC deal, discount or not? If you pay full price it's silly.

Do get 20% or so off the JLC. I own a Reverso Duo, a great watch. Polaris, MUT Moon are good, too.

Our first conversation there wasn’t any discount, but I think I can try to push for maybe 5%. Don’t think it’ll be anywhere near 20%...

Frankly, I would just walk away from this - they're just playing you. I don't need any watch that badly.

This ^

Why buy stuff you don’t even know about. It’s crazy.

Just take a time-out and re-consider.

You will get smoked on a JLC if purchased -20%. Better like it. I’ve been there

JLC - controversial question...

I’ll play devils advocate. The hulk and ceramit sell for 10k over retail easily at this market. So if you don’t expect to sell in the future this point is worthless. The best thing to do would be to buy the Polaris and lose about 2k. You will essentially be paying about $12k on the hulk/Cermit. That’s well below market price and I could live with that.

The bigger question is which watch will you be getting and which one do you like better? Although the Cermit price is higher than the hulks at the moment I clearly see it changing in the near future.

Do you have any purchase history with this AD? All of these bundle deals seem odd to me. I am what you would call a preferred customer and I have never had to bundle a different brand watch to get what I wanted.

I own a JLC and I will tell you that they make a better watch than a Rolex but I still prefer Rolex.

Rolex at MSRP and JLC with 20%+ discount. The only way to come out a winner.

Get a reverso. There's a good chance you won't have the heart to let it go afterwards.

JLC Master Moon Meteorite dial. Certain JLC's move quickly on the secondary market but getting 20% at boutique may be difficult...

Love Rolex but not even in the same league as JLC...
