Need info on 5513 non-serif
Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie to this forum, also on vintage Rolex. Just acquired 5513 a month ago. I thought the year would somewhere between 1969 - 1972. back case were opened for calibre code check as pics below. Could anyone kindly check the legitimate on this watch/parts and exactly year of it? Thanks in advance |

Looks ok to me at first glance. Sorry, but there's no way to know exactly what year it was assembled/shipped by Rolex or sold, but the serial and case-back are consistent enough. So 1970 or 1971 most likely.

Are you sure that's a non-serif dial? Look at the 9 o'clock marker.
Sometimes the lume on the hour markers can cover up the paint underneath, so it's hard to tell. |

Hi,
In the SERIF dial (with the serifs present on the rectangular hour markers) the letter E of SUBMARINER ends in a tapered way and the letter P of PERPETUAL SHOULD BE almost perfect aligned with the letter L of ROLEX, And the letter S of OYSTER has completely different shape in a serif dial, And the letter E of Rolex is not so clearly a serif shape, And the hour markera don't really look serif to me neither |
