Date change on new RedSD 126600 with 3253 movement

Hi All,

New member and just brought my first Rolex, the 126600. Very excited and happy with it.

I know this questions has been asked before, but just thought it might be different with the new 3235 movement, so hoping for find some answers to this.

Is the date expected to change on exactly midnight on the 3235 movement???

I know for other Rolex movements, and mechanical watch in general, this does not happen, unless the hands were removed and perfectly aligned by the watch maker, hence it been the norm not to.

But I've read 2 reviews on the 126600 that says with the new 3235 movement, the date changes and precisely midnight...
My watch certainly does not do this, so..is the review clearly wrong, or should my watch be looked at.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

It works the same as the 31×× movements, so exactly midnight might not be the case for everyone.

It doesn't actually work exactly the same. How off is your date change?

It is a new variant of the date jump mechanism in the 3235/55 but the basic principle is the same as the out going 3135 and its predecessors going back to calibre 1575.
The date change may vary by a few minutes either way (before or after midnight). It is a mechanical device with moving parts where temperature, magnetism, changes in the viscosity of the lubricants over time all play a part. It is never exactly at midnight.

From what little I know about watchmaking, I think the time inside the movement matters when the hands are stacked.. I think the person stacking the hands would have to just advance the hour hand until the date flips, then hack the movement again to install the minutes hand pointing directly at 12. When I bought my batman I was disappointed the first time the date switched 4 minutes after midnight and not right on the hour. Luckily midnight is way past my bedtime on most nights.

Have to agree thats what the cal 32 movements are all based on the cal 31 series, speaking for myself hopefully fast asleep at midnight. And as long as I can see the date has changed by morning thats means I am sill alive and breathing for another day thats far more important..

I agree, bed time at 22:30 so I don't care if my watch changes date a few minutes before or after midnight.
