IWC Aquatimer IW329005

Received by mail a few hours ago. Some quick comments:

-- 42mm diameter, 14mm thick

-- Outer bezel can be turned in either direction, but only counter-clockwise turns will affect the inner bezel

-- Strap can be swapped for a bracelet in seconds, with no tools required. Not sure if I'll buy a bracelet, but have to admit IWC did a good job with this feature

-- case back engraving of Jacques Cousteau is a little creepy, but I can live with it

-- Movement is a top grade ETA that's been regulated and modified. Reliable, accurate, and should be easy to service or repair

Overall, I think it's a fun change of pace from Rolex/Omega/Tudor divers

Since tapatalk takes the great photos from my S8+ and reduced them to potato quality... here's a video that better shows this reference (please turn off sound, unless you enjoy terrible music)

Very nice. I like the deep blue shade of the dial.

Congratulations!

Congrats my friend, the blue dial is very cool in the video, looks like a good sunburst blue, less in pics, ok the head of Cousteau is a little creepy as you say, but the front is very nice, and unless you have a see through case back, or a special engraving, who wants to see the back anyways

Thank you, gentlemen. I grabbed a few more wrist shots. I know there's limited love for IWC on the forums, but I like it as a casual watch

One thing I learned is not to take watches too seriously. I am enjoying my friend Mr. Cousteau, and wondering what % of sale price IWC actually donated to his namesake foundation. They have not exactly been forthcoming with details

Oh I heard from good sources that Bono gives about 1-2% from his concerts to AIDS research, so if they give more than that they are ok in my book, all these actors and rock stars making millions and giving peanuts, but everyone knows about it is such a scam, Brad Pitt giving 50k is like me giving 50 cents to homeless people once a year and letting all know I did it

Very nice ! Love the signature blue dial.
I have much fondness for IWC and it's great to see them getting imaginative with the engineering again after the uninspired last generation.

Oddly enough I picked this out this morning....my old Split minute says "Hi !"

Congrats on a great watch! I just picked up the black dial version and find it a very comfortable everyday watch.

Congratulations I thought the black was most legible, maybe a bit more versatile as well. In the end, I had to flip a coin to make a dial choice

thanks Mike. I never see Aquatimers on the forum, so it wasn't on my radar for a while. I didn't discover it until I walked into a boutique and explored a bit

Lovely watch . Lol at Jacques Cousteau being creepy. He does look like he just woke up from a long night of whisky diving !!

Looks great! I had a IWC pilot chrono, blue dial, and really like this new aquatimer...but just saw a youtube vid about the rubber strap popping off when pressure is applied from the side...one of the vid comments mentioned IWC has a fix, wanted to give you a heads up incase you havent run across the issue.

Thanks for the heads up I have tried to replicate his problem but can't. The strap won't pop off unless I take the watch off and apply pressure from both sides

I did a little more research, and it turns out the blue dial reference was introduced in 2016, while the black & white dials were introduced in 2014.

therefore, it's possible that this problem was widespread but was fixed by the time the blue dial launched

after I watched the "IWC aquatimer bad design" video, youtube suggested the video below. I am still laughing. This guy is such a fool.

*not safe for work*

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRIb-eGh2XA
He really goes off the rails around the 5 minute mark

Thanks...for the info. So tempted with the blue dial aquatimer. The lume looks great!
