Black has a no nonsense edge to it. Bad to the bone.

White is dressier and more subtle.

But, neither is actually subtle.
That’s for sure.

Depends what’s in your current collection. I’d go black dial as it stands out more.

good point.
re: chronos, I've cleared all other chronos down to speedy pro.
re: rolex, have DD president in YG silver dial and explorer 1.
re: gold, JLC reverso ultra thin in RG (white dial)
re: white dials, SMP300 gmt 'great white'
re: other stuff, AP jumbo, PP5712

clearing collection of 2 other white dials to make room - JLC reverso 976 and IWC 7-day portuguese.

which is why i started this pursuit thinking the white dial daytona... to replace the 2 other white dials that would be leaving.

also cuz the one other chrono i have is already black, as well as the Expl1.

in other words, the collection seems to 'need' another white dial to balance out.

but that black on YG... it's calling me
also like that the sub registers are not fully yellow filled rings (as on the white dial), rather just thin outlines, more subtle.

lastly i wouldn't mind potentially adding an SS daytona later down the line (hopefully ceramic, once prices calm down)... which i think looks best with the white dial.

I think you have answered your own questions.
Black dial with YG.
White dial when you add the SS.

I have owned both and wore a white dial YG Daytona on the bracelet for 10 years and found it too be great. My personal color preference in watches always goes toward darker colors, black, blue , green, red, etc. The white dial for me was more useful in that it goes with all colors. No wrong answer here as both are great.

Tough call as both are fantastic. Sounds like you need a white dial to balance your collection, but the black is calling you.

Go with your gut...you can always add a white dial down the road. Although if you haven't considered it already, I would take a look at the black with the champagne sub dials, my personal favorite.

116508 YG - black vs white

White has a softer look to it. Black is edgy and aggressive. Which better defines your style?

There is no wrong answer here. Both beauties. Frankly given the insane SS ceramic prices, these are great options in Daytona land.

Of your two, I say white... You should REAAALLY try and see the GREEN one though.

have seen the green dials... too bright for my taste, wish the shading was a bit muted/subtle.

Sticks seem to stand out better on the black.
