6567 Oyster Perpetual from 1956-57
Hello All,
I recently acquired a Oyster Perpetual that was worn by a gentleman his whole the whole time. If you look closely you can see the dirt on the bezel. My question is regarding the dial. What is going on with it? It is not honey comb, not gilt almost looks like a linen effect? Is is simply age cracking a normally silver dial? Does this pattern have a name? It came with the original rivet bracelet and papers :) Thanks Shawn |

it appears to be a linen dial. which would make it the oldest linen dial i've seen. granted if it hasn't been redone. it would'nt have originally had stick hands. and i've never seen an OCC linen dial plus the lume plots look too white to be near 60 years old. can you post better detailed pictures of the dial

I believe it's called Florentine dial. I got a Tudor Oyster Date with the same style dial.

Linen dial. Does it say 'Swiss Made'? Whats the serial number on the case at the 6 o'clock side?

Better Dial Picture 6567
Sorry for the delay. I sent the watch in for service.
Aside from an incorrect crystal and the now missing lume at the 5 o'clock because of the crystal replacement the watch is in good shape. I am still trying to figure out the origin of this dial? Linen Swiss Made - could be 1950 or 1990? Lume still glows - faintly? But also the baton markers are 2 different sizes (3,6,9 - larger). This stumps me. I am trying to find another example of this? None of the service records that came with it mention dial replacement. But who is to say I have all the records. thanks for your help. |
