5980 totally discontinued?

One AD tell to my friend who are his loyal customer this year or next year 5980 1AR-001, 5980 1R-001 and 5980 R-001 will be discontinued.

And this will be replaced with 5990 in rose gold strap and bracelet.

What you think guys?

PP discontinued the 5980 in SS and introducing the 5990 but only in SS.

Could be true. Could see it going to the Patek ‘Hall of Fame’.

The 5980 is one of my all time favorite Nautilus references. Super elegant.

I think it’s a best guess, as I don’t think PP will announce the discontinued pieces so soon.

Not sure but i was looking at chrono24 but i see 5980 prices moving up. The 1R high offer is like 138k usd. Seems high.

heard they are reintroducing some sort of chrono this year, but no idea if true.

New manual wound chrono is on the cards

I can’t see it myself. Screw down crown and manual wind don’t really go together.

I don’t know Neil.
But if Patek launches the 5990 in rose gold in my opinion they will discontinue the 5980.
Maybe they will launch an Aquanaut chrono in rose gold.

5980/1R is not discontinued. It is still on the catalogue together with 5980/1AR and 5980R. ADs are not getting many and it is highly likely they will discontinue it on 2020.

Surprised they're keeping on with the 5980R, I actually love the watch, my first Nautius love, but I almost thought it was discoed a couple of years ago and can barely remember an incoming since then.

I find it is too early to judge or even doubt about this. Maybe none are discontinued eventually. Who knows.

I actually love the 5980R. Which is interesting because I do not love gold but do favor a strap over bracelet. I guess I'm the outlier as I 5980R over the 5711 any day.

i will get my 5980R in june. i ordered it when my confirmed 5980/1R did not come in (thanks patek!!!!)

Now I have the 5711R, I'd buy the R over the 1/R, I prefer the brown dial and white subdial setup to the black one. The leather strap is also really nice, the best leather strap I've come across, altho may be prone to wear as the watch is quite top heavy, and it punches out the brown dial too.

Can't ever predict next year's discontinuations. It's a closely held secret at Patek (well, and Rolex too).

5980 wasn't discontinued this year. That's all we can say with confidence.
