No, it doesn't make me feel uncomfortable. It rarely happens, though, but when it does it has usually been a compliment. If they were to insinuate that it's a fake, then I would likely laugh and say "Yes, it is a fake. I can't afford a real one!"

Cheers,
Carl

No one has noticed any of mine in 32 years. Plus I only wear short sleeve shirts, so it is not like the watches are being hidden.

Only people that are in to watches ever notice what is on my wrist. I don't go flashing it on purpose, most of the time under a cuff.

Also, I have yet to encounter anyone in the general public that has recognized my AP or knew what it was.

I feel comfortable enjoying what I have so don't think too much of it either!

No one has ever noticed when I have had a Rolex on, but 3 times when I was wearing a Panerai. The first time was in Tutto Italia, a restaurant in Epcot. I was wearing my Pam140 & the waiter commented on it. He was excited because he never seen one in person. The second time we were parasailing in Cape Cod & the guy driving the boat, commented on my Pam104. He said he owned one as well & never seen anyone wearing one out in the public. The third time we were in Playa del Carmen & a group of guys were calling people over to take pics with a baby tiger. When we walked by they said “Mr Panerai, come take a picture”. I was wearing my Pam104. The wife did get nervous. It’s only been when I have been away somewhere when noticed. Never locally.

Of the 2 years I wore my Rolex. Only once did someone comment “nice watch”.

But last weekend when I wore my AP while shopping, 3 sales associates and 1 fellow shopper commented on the watch. All 4 have never heard of AP though...

reading most of the replies (could've missed a few) I can't believe no one has ever commented on someone's Rolex...

But I guess I just can't see it being that way because everyone I know has a Rolex so they not only notice it but compliment it as well.

I would say a good 60% to 70% of my friends have a Rolex watch. The minimum being a Submariner, one of my friends has a Rose Gold Sky Dweller with matching dial, others have the Yacht-Master and others have GMT's

Really puzzles me how someone above me wrote that they wore a Rolex for 32 years without getting noticed.

OP must be strapping their Rolex over their cuff links. No one notices watches.

I've gotten one "nice watch" in 20 years. If I were to ever be asked if my watch was real, I most certainly wouldn't take offense to it. Socially acceptable behavior and what I deem acceptable are quite different. Political correctness and offense has gotten completely out of control, IMO. I just don't take myself that seriously that I could possibly get upset or offended over something so innocuous.

Someone noticed this past Friday, I was taken aback for a second and said thanks.
It does happen now and then.

Everyone I met that actually comments on the watch (which is very rare but does happen at times) usually just say nice things such as "oh that's a beautiful watch" or "I love your watch," so I just smile and thank them.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It doesn't happen often, but when it does I usually say that my wife treats me to nice watches. She does, so it's easy for me to handle the discussion that way

I was certainly like you when I was younger. I was 26 when I bought my first 16610. Now at 47 it doesn’t bother me as much, but I totally understand. And also, I’ve never been asked the question “is it real?” Maybe be cause I live in West Los Angeles and every one and there brother has a Rolex. I live in a Condo building and I’m telling you, every male I know that lives here has at least one Rolex. One of my buddies has quite a collection of AP’s and one of my very best friends has a PP. I’m always asking if I can play with them.

I always answer with “yeah, real expensive.”

Same answer my wife gives when people ask about her breasts being real.

I've seen people look at my wrist and I often check what other people are wearing. Most people wouldn't know one brand from another, couldn't tell a real one from a fake, and don't care in the slightest. In the rare situations where we simultaneously clock each other's watches, nothing is said because nothing needs to be said. The only exception to this (at least in my little world) is in ADs and jewellers.

The only two occasions in my memory when someone has commented in the wild, they were both reps in teams I was managing (at different times). One was a watch nerd (it turned out) who aspired to a Navitimer, and who probably has at least one by now. The other asked me "is that what I think it is?", to which I replied, "well, that depends on what you think it is". The conversation went no further.

One should never do anything in public that one does not wish to be noticed.

No comments thus far in 2019. In 2018 I had two, first in an elevator a lady said “love that watch”, I had the Panerai fiddy on. Second was a gentleman at an office where I had a meeting “nice rolex, never seen one like that in real life” I had the YM II wg on.

Here in NYC, basically everyone wears a Rolex. No one other than other watch enthusiasts would actually realize what you’re wearing
