The one that got away thread...

Was thinking about watches this morning... and thought this be a fun thread.
Which of your watches that you
1) either wanted to buy but never did.
OR
2) let go, but miss...

This was the one that I feel like got away...i cant buy preowned....and really wanted a discount lol...

Fun thread indeed.

For me it was the 5711/1P 010. London Salon offered me one in 2015, before the current Nautilus craze.

Blue 5711 at msrp, right after Patek decreased prices several years ago, in a state with no sales tax. Need I say more?

Offered a new 3712 from an AD when they first came out, but didn't like the silver moon, since it was difficult to read, so I didn't get it. Who knew!

Painful memories

A few years back I wandered into an AD just browsing. They had a 5711 blue in the case. They had just lost their AD status and were looking to liquidate.
I turned down a 20% discount since I had recently bought a perpetual and thought I could always get a nautilus later. I still can't believe it!

Years ago I passed on the opportunity for an Omega Eyes on the Stars. Really wish I hadn’t, not from a collectability or ‘investment’ standpoint, but rather I really like it and would wear the heck out of it.

Edit- my bad didn’t realize this was the PP thread. Haven’t let any get away because nothing has been presented to have gotten away :)

Most of the Nautilus. 5711A / 5712A. Pass over them numerous time before the craze so now it's a loss opportunity at least from an investment point of view. But it's OK, can't have it all.

As for let go and miss, I do miss my IWC Portuguese Perpetual Calendar in WG ( the previous gen ). Sold it for peanuts and in retrospect, should have kept it. Beautiful watch.

November 2016 I went to my AD and was offered my choice of 5712 A, 5167 A (bracelet) or 5960 steel white face. I had just bought my 911 and just couldn’t pull the trigger.

No regrets as I am pretty happy with my current collection.

How dare you mention “Sharky”! (Pardon my language but on the day of Basel a close friend referred to it as a sharkbite POS. My oh my was he wrong. *** This was not Ken haha***) From that day on my circle of friends calls her Sharky. Had the chance to give her a try last week while hanging with one of my best pals (incontrol)

I got to try on my good friend, Goog53’s beautiful 5711. It was sublime. Never had the chance to wear one before.

Same here, had one for £20.5K but thought it should be 20K so passed. That five hundred squid cost me 25 racks.

My former hairdresser of all people offered me a 3700/001A w cork box and certificate of origin a few years ago for 36k and I hesitated, being slightly overwhelmed at the time - it would have been both my first Patek and my first major watch purchase...

Year 2000: PP 3700/1a vs. Rolex DD WG President, both BNIB from AD & both priced around the same ~ $11k.

Bought the WG DD President ...
