5990 versus 5968

Which one do you like more and why? Curious to hear the different points of view.

Alot of people here may say the 5990 for the added travel time GMT function / being a nautilus but for a sport look but, i really like the 5968 with the orange strap. Just a bit more fun / added touch. Larger dial also so legibility / date window is always a bonus

The 5990 two subdials one at 6 and 12 is functional but a little bit of a niche in terms of going away from a standard style of dial layout.

5990 because it I prefer bracelet to strap. I also like the Nautilus case and the smaller size.

Cheers!

The 5990 feels substantial and covers many bases...the other does not (for me). The 5968 is fun and easy though. It is eye candy. I have/love both, but if you told me I had to keep one, I know the answer....not to say my tastes might never change... I keep an internal hierarchy that changes from time to time. It helps me to ‘cull the cattle’, when looking at something new versus keeping something I stopped wearing years ago.

The 5968 is the perfect steel Patek chronograph:clean, legible, durable. The only things that would have made it better are if it were 40mm and I could get one from my AD.

I have found it wears smaller because of the rubber strap.

5968, love the tropical strap and never was a fan of the 5990 dial layout.

5990. Just looks better imo, but I'm a complete sucker and biased towards the Nautilus series.

+1

Don't like travel time watches and dislike the 5990's left side pushers.

Don't like the 5990 design or the gray dial. 5968 all day!

5990 for me. The 5968 is nice but not as special and misses the bracelet

5990 for me. Aesthetically more pleasing to me, plus I think the case construction is pretty cool.

The 5990 of course. Because when the inevitable blue dial is released, the old grey one will magically transform into unobtainium right before your eyes!

I have not seen these live, but from pics I prefer the 5968, since it seems way more legible to these old eyes. I also happen to love Patek's Aquanaut straps for their lightness and durability.

For me, I think 5968. 5990 is big but surprised to see the thickness of the two side by side, closer than I expected. So a bit torn..... would have to try them both on but I still say 5968 for now. The touch of orange is nice.

Think the 5968 looks great in comparison there, would be my choice, and I'd wear the orange strap on sunny days when the hot chicas abound.

I find 5968 chrono is legible than the 5990 and as mentioned above it is a fun watch particularly with the orange strap.

In my opinion overall 5990 is a better watch compared to 5968 as it has the additional travel time complication and the bracelet. I also feel it is better value for money.

I love both ref's... If i had to pick only one, I'd go with the 5990 though because I prefer the bracelet

Between those two I prefer the 5990. Regardless of complication, I like the style better.

Love them both, but if given the choice to choose only 1, I would go 5990. It's just a great reference with great wrist presence.

Of the two, I prefer the 5990. I just wish it didn’t have a chronograph.
