5711

Hi Everyone

the Patek website list the 5711 with a cal 26-330 movement.
Is this a non-hacking movement like the 324?
It distinguishes it from the 5167 I guess.
This is probably old news so apologies if I missed it earlier

Cheers!

Until recently 5711 had the caliber 324 SC, the same movement as 5167. It appears Patek has updated the 5711 with caliber 26-330 SC.

I was told caliber 26-330 SC J SE, the new movement in 5212A has hacking seconds.

Nice catch OP!

https://www.patek.com/en/collection/...us/5711-1A-010
https://www.patek.com/en/collection/...us/5711-1A-011
https://www.patek.com/en/collection/...us/5711-1R-001

Does this mean that the older movement watches are now hotter in the market or do they drop? Seems odd for Patek to just change it and not tell anyone - seems like a great way to cool market on 5711 as now people will want the new caliber.

I´m pretty sure that it won´t affect the price for pre-owned watches at all. Look at the current situation, 315 SC or 324 SC movement, Geneva seal or PP seal, old or new blue dial, people simply buy everything that looks like a 5711.

This is bigger than any of the releases from Basel. What will be the value of the first 5711s with the new movement vs the 324. No one cares about the difference between 5711 with the 315 vs 324 or Geneva seal vs PP seal. Is this going to be the break point because of Hacking Seconds?

Good spot. Cant't stand that Patek still have mixed images of the blue dials in the photo line up, plus a rear shot with the 26-330 & another shot showing the older 324 movement. I'mm sure they will sort it soon.

Big news indeed. Disappointing the power reserve is still quite low though.

Definitely big news but I don’t think it will have much affect on their market price though as Felix pointed out above.

In terms of rarity, this makes the 5711 blue with the new dial introduced in 2018 with the cal 324 one of the fewest produced with only a year of production.

5711

It’s not all about rarity, but also perceived quality. If the new movement is regarded as an upgrade, then the newer models will command a premium.

What I’m more interested in is whether they solved the noisy rotor issue?

That would of been the mic drop moment if they had increased the reserve and not even shouted about the incremental improvement.

5711

Good for Patek to silently inline the update without feeding the hype machine (Rolex take note) - although not sure it's possible for there to be any more hype around the 5711.

Patek already had the movement in the latest printed catalogue despite not showing it in a watch.

That was a pretty nice catch! Nice improvement I suppose for those who are obsessed with setting their watch to the precise second/minute!

Nice!
Strangely enough I quite like the non hacking. It feels different as none of my other watches don’t have hacking seconds. But, cool they added it.

Maybe they should have timed it with the 20% price bump though hehe

Well hacking is def an improvement so I expect the old models... to rise in value ofc, nothing stops a grey from pushing prices higher.

How long before the other 324 based pieces get the update, perhaps the new 5726 will be updated even before it is released.

That is very cool of PP to do such a move in such a low key manner.

Very classy.

And a Rolex Daytona 116520 would sell for more than a 16520.

Wow thats cool. Great find.

Also interesting about the mash-ups of dial/movements in the gallery on their website.

Thanks for posting that - it will have no effect on value, but I like the aesthetics of the new movement!
