Patek signature on 5711 blue on that page

It's interesting on the head of the page is a Patek signature has two distinct lines (which i prefer) whereas the smaller photos have the block to print the larger signature (like on the white face)

You prefer the old pre 2018 dial.

Lets be real - Patek is not a digital company - they are not going to re-shoot all of their pictures every year. Now Rolex on the other hand would - but Patek - some of those pictures are likely 4+ years out of date on the actual watches being made.

Personally I'm not a fan! If it were a smoother or more graceful whir I might be on board, but the buzzing just isn't that pleasant of a sound.

A welcome improvement. I wonder how long it'll take for the 5167 to be updated, and then for other 324 base movements to be updated.

Pity the 5740/1G clasp doesn't seem to have trickled down yet, but here's to hoping it will eventually!

EDIT: Kind of disappointing that they didn't put it on the new 5168G!

Totally agree! It's such a lovely sound.
I used to have a Valjoux 7750 and that thing would wobble and sound a bit.... well, not great, but this sounds fantastic

Nice, I assume all of the deliveries to ADs now will have the new movement?

Aside from the accuracy in setting the time, are there any other advantages of a hacking movement?

I’d say that the new movement will be in the 5711 released in H2 2019, the change is very recent as they have not changed the "instructions for use" yet.

As I understand it most AD's get 2 allocations for the 5711 H1 and H2. Last year the H1 blue 5711 was delivered in the UK with older style dial, I know because I turned it down.

If they have already changed the movement the transition period could be a tiny window between late 2018 and early 2019, perhaps high 10’s or low hundreds.

I am happy to admit if I had a choice I’d prefer the new dial 324 (transition model) and would defiantly pay a premium for it, not sure how much though.

I don't normally comment on valuation discussions, but here's an observation: the steel 5711 seems utterly resistant to valuation fluctuations based on calibre changes such as 315 to 324, Geneva-vs-Patek seal, and the like. There are only two exceptions to this, I believe (I could be wrong, experts weigh in please): the Tiffany-dialed 5711 and the strange and rare alternating width dial (Internet photo attached). Otherwise I recommend anyone with a 5711 enjoy it to the max, the market has decided it is insanely valuable (overpriced?) at the moment.

Never heard of the alternating width dial before. Is this the dial on the older Geneva seal 5711?

It was definitely not the standard 315/Geneva Seal dial. This one is a circa 2008 cal 324. Sotheby's calls it the "slate grey ribbed dial." I remember at the time thinking WTF, $60K for a 5711? Some astute collector grabbed it before Sotheby's even figured out it how rare it was.

Thanks a lot for the information. I own one of these and never noticed the dial was different from other 5711s...

lMO while very rare, years of production will give a collector a much better chance of getting a Tiffany stamped blue 5711 with either movement.

The last of the 324 run would presumably be split with the white 5711 that has no dial change. If the 5711 is not discontinued the white will be available with both movements for many years as well. The transition blue is different because

1 Only Blue affected
2 New dial
3 324 movement
4 Very limited production run (could only ever be hundreds WW)
5 The white further reduced transition blues

The Blue 5711 is one of the hottest models on the planet desired and special and always will be. How many thousands of each variant 5711 will be available, one change on its own maybe nothing, but all above for me its surely more £££

Nice, my cousin had a 5711J with these wider bars, he bought his around 09/10, the Patek text is much clearer on them, and PP have now updated the 5711 dials to this clearer style of text display but over the bars.

Those blue "transition models" have been delivered for 9 months at least - mine is from July 2018 - and total production may have reached 500+. I would not expect these pieces to command any premium. If anything early pieces with Geneva seal (screws in the bracelet, old dial, some w Cal 315) as well as new pieces with hacking movement should command a premium. After all this is the biggest modification during the 13y production run of the blue 5711 and people had been waiting forever for this "giant leap for Patek".

Well it hasn't always been one of the hottest watches on the planet, so I am not sure what determines it always will be.

European Watch currently have a 2009 example w the alternating width dial for sale for 65k. Same price as standard dial it seems... Either they don't know what they have got or these pieces don't command any premium at this point...

Sorry everyone I never realised demand for the steel Nautilus was just a recent phenomenon. I thought apart from the early 70’s the “base steel Nautilus” has been hard to get for many years. I bow to forums greater knowledge as I was only reading what I heard on here. It goes to show though a lie told a thousand times becomes real in the end.

Again, I bow to the forum’s greater knowledge, perhaps 500+ pieces worldwide would be far too high for a limited-edition steel sports PP. I guess a year is a long time at the PP factory and the steel 5711 is probably produced in the tens of thousands of blue and the same in white every year. On refection “only being available for a year” the transition blue would be common, I’d still pay a £100 premium for it though. The vintage, alternating width and Tiffany dialled models must command a high premium because they were only produced for such a short time, in smaller numbers and were not popular at the time.

It’s all irrelevant to me as I can’t afford ANY PP and could not get on a list if I could. I will defiantly stop reading all the PP and 5711 hype though, I realise now “it’s just a steel watch”, I just thought it was a bit more special.

just enjoy your 5711 if you have one

Experts believe there have been 3 dial variations since the introduction of 5711 blue in stainless steel. Your one is the rarest of all 3 variants
