2021 Rolex Explorer, or 41mm Submariner (no date)
Unfortunately I may be deleting my account if it isn't possible to do a name change for free, I am waiting that. If so, hopefully they allow me to create a new account. But in the mean time I decided to ask this question anyway :)
I currently have a 40mm Yachtmaster with Rhodium Dial, the latest version with the updated movement. I have been wearing it as my only watch, but it has some disadvantages as an everyday watch; 1. The polished centre links scratch very easy, I am not to bothered, but I think that another watch wish brushed centre links would be better as a daily wearer. 2. The watch is beautiful in the sunlight, unfortunately at night/dark lighting conditions it isn't the most eligible. Considering my next watch, that will be my everyday wearing. Would you choose a 2021 36mm stainless steel explorer Or a no date 41mm submariner? I like that the explorer should be a relatively under the radar watch and could be worn pretty much anywhere in the world without attracting attention. But equally the submariner is a beautiful watch, so it could be a hard choice. |

As the owner of a 5 digit 36mm Rolex Explorer, I'm going to have to say that if I had the opportunity to purchase a new Sub, I would do that.
I love my Explorer though. |

Cant go wrong with either. I love them both! I’d pick which ever one fits your lifestyle better.

Sub. I personally strongly prefer the variant without the date, unless it is the SD4K.

The Sub No Date is the perfectly proportioned and quintessential Rolex IMO.

i mean, its apples and oranges: 36mm v 41mm. I personally think that unless youre like 5'4 or shorter and thin, 36mm is way too small. go with the no date, it looks smaller than the date due to the proportional dial. great watch and fits EVERY occasion. you can wear it 24 hours a day, 365, and do everything in it, from chopping wood, to swimming, to playing basketball.

I have the 124060 Sub, and love it, but I'd urge you to try them both on because they wear very differently. If you have them each on your wrist I think the decision will make itself.
Also, keep your account. It's almost 10 years old, it's vintage! |

Between the two, and based on what you have, I'd go Explorer. More variety. The Sub is a great choice, but it is slightly redundant with the YM in styling.

2021 Rolex Explorer, or 41mm Submariner (no date)
I have both a 114270 and a 14060M. IMO, the 114270 is a keeper and a GADA watch, while the Submariner is a sportier watch, which I use occasionally.

Thank you for all of the replies everyone :)
My other thought, was maybe just asking my local AD to put me on the wait list for both, and purchase whichever one they get in first. Though I have a feeling that the Explorer will be a lot easier to acquire than the Sub. |

That’s what I would do. Though I don’t think the Explorer will be as easy to get as you think.

Both are solid options, but I'd go Sub here, unless you have a 6 or under inch wrist.

This is a really good point. I found the Sub to be very redundant with the aesthetics of my GMTs so I moved it on. The Explorer (214270 mkII for me) however, still gets plenty of wrist time. If choosing just one watch, though, I think 41mm Sub > 36mm Explorer. |

My vote would be for the Submariner, depending on your height and wrist size.

Sub all the way. I prefer the date. If Explorer, then the 39mm version.

Sub - all you need. IMO I would pick it over every other Rolex, any other watch, let alone the Explorer.

Like another poster has said, it an awkward comparison based on the size difference between the two watches. 36mm vs 41mm
What is your wrist size to begin with? |
