14270 Explorer Winding Question, Caliber 3000
14270 36mm Explorer 1
I don't daily wear this watch, and it's the only Rolex in my collection...well, I have a Tudor BB, but that doesn't count as a Rolex... When I do decide to wear it, I wind it manually to get it started obviously. I have never counted how many crown turns I do, but have noticed that eventually I can't turn the crown anymore, and obviously the resistance is greater the further along I wind...So, it's basically like a true manual wind watch that stops when the spring is fully wound, like on my Speedmaster Pro. I figured that I would be able to continue manually winding the watch to infinity, with the clutch mechanism etc. FYI, watch keeps exceptional time and was purchased from a trusted dealer. If this is a dumb question, feel free to chastise me. |

First there is no clutch once mainspring is fully wound it just slips in the spring-barrel.And when manually winding wind clockwise only, but you might have a problem. As it should not stop so you cannot wind like a manual wind watch get it checked out.
